Rotating Lights

Is it a good idea to rotate lights to save on power? I have a 1000W MH and 1000W HPS, I want to have one run for 6 hours and than the other one turn on while that one turns off and when I add a third light would it be a bad idea to have part of the day 3 running, part of the day only 2 running, and part of the day only 1 running?

Is this generally a bad idea? Am I being to cheap here? What should I run more often HPS OR MH (all phases)? Thanks a lot

generally I would say that this is a bad idea. During the hours of light I would say that you need to give the plants as much light as possible. Scrimp now and you'll pay for it later.

BAD IDEA! The main thing that kills light bulbs, is turning them "Off & On" all the time. Every time you switch a bulb "On", it is like delivering a punishing "Hammer blow"! The longevity of a bulb is greatly increased by letting it continue to burn, as long as possible.
