Too soon to celebrate too much just yet. But I'll drink to that after a long day.
Thanks guys! From what I have smoked from her it has been pretty damn good.
Not much of a smell from the bud because it wasn't cured. Just hang dried then smoked.
I am anxious to chop her and get started on the drying/curing process.
Not sure how much to expect but I would like to get around 6+ oz dry. I should be close to it.
Added an hour to the dark time. Now the light is 13 off 11 on.

PPM 300
pH 5.6
Cab Temp 81-84
Rez Temp 64-68
 
I plan to chop this lovely lady this coming weekend.
I topped a couple budz to sample and also to open up the lower budz to ripen them up.
Lowered to 75 PPM and will try to get it lower in a day or so.
My water is 55 PPM from the faucet so I may not get it to 0 but I'm close to straight water.
The budz look fire but I want them to have a good smell after they dry?
I know the jars should bring the smell back into the budz after a week or so?
Am I missing something?

Nope.. sound like a fool proof plan.. Just make sure you don't let the buds get too dry before you put them in the jars and make sure to burp the jars 2-3 times a day to release the built up moisture.

Pretty damn good! They seem to look and smell better than they did in Round 1.
I have removed about an oz dry from the plant that I have been drying out and smoking on.
Plan to chop the rest this weekend as long as the lower is not too green.

I have a theory of how to get the stankiest buds possible after harvest. It's very simple.

Let them dry long enough. I have had better results with waiting too long until jarring then jarring too soon. If you jar too soon the bud is going to keep its nasty musky smell and won't ever sweeten up. If you let the buds dry longer before jarring, they will develop a sweet smell and taste as well. I'd suggest smelling them day by day as they are drying, and you will notice the transition.

The next thing is key. Once you are done giving them their final close trim, jar them; don't leave them out to dry any longer. It seems the strong aroma from all the busted trichomes become trapped in the jar providing a much stankier cure. The first time the buds see the inside of a jar, I leave them there for at least 24hrs before I open it back up. I'm trying to re hydrate the buds as much as possible before the burping begins. At this point the buds should feel like they contain a little moisture. If they don't, then the dry went too long.
Then just burp the jars three times a day for two hours or so for the next couple days, then taper it off.

This has been working awesomely for me.

Decided to go ahead and chop the majority of my beast down.
I chopped the big budz and the tops of the smaller budz.
Harvest for the rest will be in a day or so. Approx. 1-2 dry oz left on the plant
Wet weight on Part 1 of Harvest is 33.5 oz wet.
I calculate 1/4 of that to be dry weight. Which will be 8.5 oz dry.
So 8.5 oz dry from part 1 of harvest and approx. 2 oz dry left to harvest.
Minus the oz that I have smoked from her already.
Should put me around 11 oz of dry cured budz for a total.
I will verify this and have more accurate weights as they dry but this should be fairly accurate.
Six budz are forearm sized budz as you can see from the pic.
From 1 plant and a 400 w light, I am very pleased!!

This grow to me shows that you have to set a goal that you want to achieve and work towards it.
I said at the beginning that I wanted budz 10-12 inches tall and as big as my forearm.
That is exactly what I got. I wanted 6 oz dry and may have 10 oz. It's all good!
Whether it's in life or growing budz. Set a goal and work for it and you will achieve it.

I will keep you guys posted on accurate weights and upcoming grows.
It will be a little while before my next one though.

Thanks for the kind words! Not sure how long I will be down and out.
I wanna run a Round 3 with another strain. Or maybe I can get a female from Extrema.
We shall see what the near future will bring.
It is never truly mastered. My next grow should be even better.
Gonna have to make a couple of changes to the setup.



 
You're so right about it being a constant process of improvement.

Though I must say I'm astounded by the sheer size of the donkey dix. Massive. Bravo.

Love the float valve.

Those thick top chunkers look downright scary. They have nice crystal coverage, too. It's gonna take while for those to dry.
 
Ahh! The budz smoke and taste so much better after they have dried out a bit.
Nice and smooth taste with an enjoyable high!
Moist budz don't burn or taste that great. I think thats one way I messed up in Round 1.
I jarred the budz while they were still too moist and they never fully cured properly.
Budz from this round are still drying out for another couple days. Gonna be right!

I'm always warning people not to jar too soon. They all laugh at me. Actually, they don't laugh at me, but some don't take me that seriously. And who can blame 'em? Lol.

I had super bomb Platinum OGK drying and I jarred too soon. The next morning I woke to distinct grassiness that wasn't there before. Dumping them out and letting them dry further saved them, though, thank God.

8 1/2 oz dry budz minus the budz that I smoked on before the final harvest puts the total around 9 oz of budz.
And 2 oz of dry trim that was made into some butter. Makes some fire ass cookies last night with some of it. The rest is in the freezer.
The budz look really good, still not much of a smell and not the taste I was wanting. It gets me really high esp from a glass pipe.
Definitely trying a different strain next time. I have one more Extrema seed and some seeds from some real good reg.
Gonna look around for some others that may interest me. Round 3 is gonna be the shit.
