Rubbermaid Question

What's up guys? I have a question or concept with the rubbermaid that I haven't ever seen in a thread before. Give me some feedback on this.

Rather than using pots in the bottom of the bins, why not just fill the bottom with soil? I feel like it can only provide more room for root growth and possibly create a little more space vertically. What do you think?

In other words, this has been done many many many many many times and isn't a new idea. Works fine for them to my knowledge. Except that drainage would sort of be a pain, since most people are using a rubbermaid to be stealthy. So unless you want water leaking out of your stealth box, i'd just use pots. If you're NOT going stealth, then just fill the ENTIRE tote with soil and grow out of that. I've seen that too. Some serious tree's growing out of those bad boys.
