NO!!!!!
Mix one gram of calcium hypochlorite into a seperate bottle of distilled or RO water. You just made a gallon of sterilizing solution that you use at 2-3 ml per gallon of your nutrient solution.
So you would use 50 ml in your 25 gallon Rez.
Awesome dude thanks for all the help +repyep that's right. just make sure you get the right bag of HTH. it's this in a 1 pound bag
and not just to prevent slime. will also prevent root rot which will spread throughout your whole system really quickly without it.
Thank you so much brothaLabel the bottle, and put it next to your Heavy16 line. Add it every time you down Rez change or top off.
One more question i just got the hth so would i not use Prime now since I'm using this?sterile is you kill all bad/good bacteria. i use hth pool shock. dutchmaster zone works well too.
bennies are running beneficial bacteria that "eat" all the bad bacteria. you would use Prime for this. it would feed the bacteria.
i think sterile is simpler and more effective in my opinion
That's jus what i heard at the hydro store i didn't really believe it that's y im on here asking you lovely fellas lolThis doesn't add Oxygen so I'm a bit confused... I would say that you need air stones or at least a hard flow.
nope. just the hth.One more question i just got the hth so would i not use Prime now since I'm using this?
You would be trying to feed something that isn't there. If you use hthOne more question i just got the hth so would i not use Prime now since I'm using this?

all i use: base nutes, cal/mg, silica and HTH. that's it.
So im gonna take prime back n return it.. could i swap it for a sweetner flavor enhancer? You would be trying to feed something that isn't there. If you use hth
Those things don't even work man, go buy a co2 bucket or somethingSo im gonna take prime back n return it.. could i swap it for a sweetner flavor enhancer?
You think so?Those things don't even work man, go buy a co2 bucket or something
No those things don't work. Ask your store if they can give you a credo. Use it when you actually need something. You think so?
I always thought that was a given... I have had temps in the high 70s-low 80F s and I have never had root rot. Thanks to that product and using about an OZ once a week.Since nobody has mentioned it yet, hydroguard by botanicare would be an example of a beneficial (vs. a sterilizer). I use hydroguard in my rdwc system, mainly because I started with it a long time ago, it works well, and I got a big bottle on the cheap. If I were to run sterile which I'm considering doing my next round I would just use pool shock like everyone else has suggested.

With hth i won't have to worry about any slime at all will i?No those things don't work. Ask your store if they can give you a credo. Use it when you actually need something.
I personally can't vouch for hth since I've never used it, but there are experienced growers that use it all the time. I use a chiller as well to keep water temps mid 60's. Higher water temps might require more solution, or more frequent application potentially. What I've noticed after reading tons and tons of threads is that in the end, you have to find what works for you. With hth i won't have to worry about any slime at all will i?

If used correctly you will never have slime or rot. Yes it will affect pH but not like you think. It will raise it maybe .1 each time you add it to the res maybe. Will hth affect my ph? If so what do i do just add ph up or down until it's 5.5-6
