Hey guys, I'm in the process of finishing up my light set up. And wanted to get clarification on the power cable required to safely suply my unit. This thread is fairly old, however I could not find any info else where so figured some of the electrical engineers can help me out!
I have 16 cxb3070's cobs powered by 16 meanwell lpc-60-1400 drivers.
I am wiring these up with a 16 gauge cord.
I was originally planning on powering 8 with one cord and the other 8 on a second cord, but am wondering if this would be necessary?
My questions are:
When adding the current inputs of the drivers. 1.2A * 16 = 19.2A and since this is well over what the 16 gauge wire is rated for I originally planed on wiring half of the unit on one cord and half on the other.
I understand that I will not be powering each chip at 100% so would this calculation be acurate?
Each chip is about 50w ×16 totaling about 800w of power required to illuminate the fixture. So at 110v would this fixture only draw 7.27 amps? (800/110=7.27)
So bottom line I would like to know if I can safely power all 16 drivers/ cobs with 1 16 gauge power cord, or do I need to split the fixture in half and power each set of 8 cobs + drivers on their own dedicated power cable?
