Runoff ph issue

Hey guys I'm running 2 cheap led's in a 2by4 veg tent with a 96cfm duct fan ( I have a bigger one if that's the issue 200cfm w carbon filter) and one medium oscillating fan.. my medium is coco/perlite mix and I'm using Gaia organics, I believe I have a ph issue my water going into my coco is 5.8 and the runoff water is at a high 7.2 I don't understand what's going on (btw I wouldn't write this if there wouldn't be an issue with the girls but I have tips going down and discolourations.. my water comes out at ph8 I've been watering daily and I transplanted 2 of them in 5gal and they seem to look better than the ones still in 1gals

Were the ones you transplanted root bound? My plants start looking funny when they need to be transplanted

I wouldn't say root bound but the bottom of the pot had plenty of visible roots for me Soo I'm slowly transplanting them

Sounds like you need to start storing and using rain water as your water source is too hard and has buffers in it (likely flouride and chlorine/chloramine). Best advice I can give you is to buy some 10L bottled water and try it for a week to see if it makes a difference. What seems to be happening is as the pH rises back up, it's locking out calcium and magnesium which is causing the leaf discolouration. pH swings can be a nightmare to control.
I had a similar issue with mine, I tried everything until one day I tried bottled water and bam, after a week they were looking normal again. I now use rainwater and the difference is second to none. My 2c anyway, take it or leave it and best of luck

I've yet to see a successful grow without any issues using mr. canucks gaia green dry amendments in coco.

Mick Im sure I'll live to tell you about my success with Gaia my issue doesn't come from the food man it's my water.. I don't spit on any criticism but I've seen more than one grow with Gaia do good things not only in coco but also in soil and peat

Gaia being a mix of hot amendments and slow ones.You get a bunch of one and none of others.Tricky deal.

I'm not saying you'll only use the Gaia amendment it's general and you usually add other amendments to make more of an organic coco with the very base nutrients Gaia has I don't see why people spit on it Soo much

What is your starting water like, ph/ppms? My current grow was my first with a new water source, in coco also, and I had major mag def issues from the beginning. My water is around 150-200 ppms to start, heavy on calcium, ph 7.5. I realized my coco runoff was consistently over 7, usually right around my tap water PH when I was PHing my nutes to 6. Besides the PH, I realized I was just giving too much Calmag, so I cut that off, and started feeding additional epsom salts-around 1/4 t per gallon, and I started PHing my nutes to 5.5. Now my runoff is around 6.8, which is fine by me, all the issues cleared up and the plants are doing great. Runoff PH isn't terribly reliable, but it can give you a general indication if something is seriously off. You might be having alkalinity and or cal/mag issues like I was. How often are you watering? I don't know how dry ferts work in coco because you need to maintain the CEC and feed multiple times per day-I would suggest flushing with 5.5 ph nutrient solution to help lower the media PH but that would wash out your fertilizers...

Not spitting on it,I use it in my home made soil, works fine.

Finally someone speaks some sense and doesn't spit on Gaia my start ppm is roughly the same as you coming out the tap but my ph is somewhere between 7.5 and 8 and here we go Soo I haven't given any calmag supplements because even if I would give some my ph is over 7.2 Soo it's basically useless and I thought of the same thing with giving them a nutrient solution but that would wreck my organics which I don't wanna do that since I'm putting money into organic amendments and stuff.. what will happen is my next run I'll mix this recipe with 15-20% organicsupersoil for the ph balance

The only other 2 options I see is underwatering and or denitrifying bacteria which all of that is water related

I also don't know what my city puts in the water it's not written anywhere even on their water treatment website.. see where I'm getting?

Letting the gaia sit in a bucket of water for 36 hrs stiring here and there will drop the ph,also a splash of black strap will drop the ph.

He uses it in soil.......not coco.
There is a Gaia Green thread in the organics section of this forum that goes into great detail about using dry amendments.,
All of the contributors use it in soil or peat moss, or a combination of both.......not coco.

Ok well none of y'all can really awnser this shits dead I'll just ride with it till the end and see my results and IF I even find whats up trust me the info won't be leaked on this forum

The reason your questions can't be answered is because no good coco grower on this forum uses dry amendments.
Why don't you ask the people that you know who have used it successfully in coco?

Why coco anyway? Peat is half the price and seams to work with the dry quite well.
