Russ how big are your individual hyro pots. They dont seem big enough to handle a full size plant, maybe i dont get the scale from your pics.
Also I have a GH waterfarm kit, drip feed, kinda like what you got, and i run 15 minutes on, 30 minutes off. And dont feed at night. This schedule was recommended to me by my hydro shops store owner. and it has been working like a charm

i have heard of that, but have heard far more about multiple waterings.

my square pots are 6 inch pot, i was told this should finish a hydro plant, thanks for soem input on feed freqency, you are the first ive been able to get it out of.. by drip do you mean the flow is regulated? if so how much do the plants get in that 15 minutes. as it is my pump is only 79 GPH, 6 lines it runs a little slow but im sure 15 minutes will do the trick, i still may get a more powerful pump.

the real question herein is why would one not run the water 24 hours a day, if you've got oxygen running through it all the time... just trying to understand this so i can run an optimal schdule.

you want to give your roots time to breath, if you ran it 24/7 your leaves would begin to droop due to overwatering. you can check my gallery and see that i used to have aeroponics setup, and i left my pump on for two straight hours, and my plant was super droopy. As far as my drip system it consists of a ring that has tiny holes that forces the water to drip out, instead of spewing out. if your system flows water out of the tubes you may want to switch your feeding to 15 minutes on 45 minutes off during the day and maybe feed them once during the night cycle just to make sure your roots dont get too dry.

personally i would say go with what your cool with then just give a little more and a little less frequent. theres nothing like doing it yourself and seeing the results with your eyes. youll be able to see the need through the leaves and adjust quickly if you encounter problems. we would like to hear fom your experience especially if its your formula rather than someone elses. have confidence they wont die within a day.

if the water has oxygen in it they should breathe? thanks for the tips! i know of the drip rings you speak of and i almost used them.

i will be able to tell, i just like going on as best i can, i did very well with my last soil grow, i have every confidence, and it is my forumla, if it does succeed i will make sure all of your know it, so you won't have to go through the same guessing game i get to go through.

Russor - I started working with a similar system but instead of raised pots my holes are cut right in the lid. I like this strategy because the roots can grow down into the res and will never dry out because you end up with a bubbler and drip system.

yeah - thats what i struggled with building this, i did not want my roots in the resivor for when i needed to change or flush it, etc...

Russor - I am struggling with the same issue. I am working on a system where I have dual res and a pump so I can drain the root tub without disturbing the plants. Will be working on the design this weekend.

One of the videos i watched some time ago talked about rinsing the rocks. They said just punch a few small holes in the bag, stick a garden hose in the top and let it run til its clear.

going to test starting ppm's with some drity bagseed, from 100-600 ppm, 6 tests subjects (hopefully). hopefully this works out well, we will see.

The bagseed is germinating .. i had my doubts, they looking pretty crummy, but you'd be surprised how much abuse a seed can take. these seeds were mostly from brick/compacted dirt shit weed. perfect for this test. i will probobly within the next 8 hours setup my cubes at 100-600 ppm, but it looks like i may be doiong 200,400,600 instead, only 3-4 germs. at the moment

system has been running ok the last few days, i switched my feeding to 15 minutes every 2 hours during the light and once during the night cycle. i did have to reconnect the hose to the pump once but it shouldnt fall off again, i ordered a 200gph pump i may keep as back up or use as main. not quite sure yet, but i think i'm getting even flow in my tubes now.

more tweaks begin, the water running was too cold for my taste, so i put an old heating pad udner the resivor on the low setting, hopefully this will be enough, and wont cause too much extra evaporation.

It will look the same as the one i posted when the hydro system was running, it looks the same. i could take a new pic but it wouldnt show much, i will take a new pic when i put some plants in the system. and i will be taking pics of my seedling expierment

So, my expierment is now in progress as follows (i changed it to this because this is how my ppm's came out...)

2 seeds @ 150ppm and 5.8 ph
1 seed @ 310ppm and 5.5 ph
1 seed @ 500ppm and 5.5 ph

lets see if they survive.

water still feels pretty cold even with the heating pad on high, so i guess i'll have to pickup a aqarium heater.
