Salts - I read a book, where it said as we all know, salt builds up in the soil, hurting the roots, are they talking about salts from all nutrients or just table salt? thanks

The term 'salt' refers to any sort of ionic (and generally soluble) mineral salt (technically i think it refers to anything granular). 'Table salt' is NaCl- the kind of salt you normally use on food. Sea salt like you might use on food is 'mostly' NaCl, but it does actually contain some other salts.

Gatorade for example has 2 salts: KCl + NaCl. Both taste 'salty' and are valuable electrolytes for the mammalian body.

So, with that said.... most of the minerals in fertilizers are considered salts. Some may taste salty or not, some may be toxic or not... etc. (dont taste them).

The minerals in tap water are also salts and that's where a lot of the toxic salts buildup come from. If you use tap water then flush every so often to get rid of the buildup. It's the same crap that builds up in your kettle but in your root zone instead.

Pink Himalayan sea salt only has 42% NaCl and the balance is salts from 84 different minerals.
