OK,so here's my dumb question:do the Rspec lights make much of a difference growing wise between it and regular V2s??? Im clueless to the whole led thing really... Im trying to keep a straight face, but for real tho,do they make a difference???

Check out greengenes last grow on youtube for a discussion on red supplementation. Not the same product but same concept.

Nope, nothing worse than blurples, you and your plants will love qbs compared to blurples , if they are legit lm301b diodes, thats gonna be a legit setup. I wish you the best of luck, let us know how it goes

I for one am glad you werent having that stroke :)
F#&k that!!! Id rather spend a few dollars more(anybody ever watched that movie???)on a legitimate light than take my chances with that one... As a matter of fact,im bout to push the button for something now as we speak...

Well so far this light seems legit! It’s better than the others I’ve used but I have never used another board to compare it too; just blurples and a cheap cob/led light

Yes that would work well, as Luke said, 315s are good for 3x3. adding a board on either side will give you a nice spectrum and much better coverage for the 4x4

Im a believer in CMH, they produce nice bud for sure. Couple them with legit leds and i think you have a winning combo.
I agree with this.

I'm building some LED fixtures for a couple of rooms that are also going to use CMH. One is 8' x 4' and the other is roughly 7' x 5'. In both cases they will be running 2 x 315CMH bulbs in the middle of each quadrant supplemented by LEDs on either side.

In terms of efficiency and yield, there's no comparison: the best LEDs beat CMH. Even HPS beats CMH. But CMH has full UVA/UVB and can add warmth to the grow room where heat isn't an issue. The two light sources can be complimentary in terms of product yield and quality.

I agree to most of this. For us CMH beat hps hands down but its not a one for one swap, 2 for 3 works great. Our CMH foot print depends on batwing reflectors and works out as aprox a 4x2 with very nice even spread. We even get less par just under the light than the edges so we can really slam it down against the cannopy. We use aisles so this works great with several lights on a beam to raise lower easily together. For these reflectors id go for a 4 foot strip in between. But it would be a bit messy with individual hanging heights.

Led/cmh yield? We had good yields on both sides but about 25% more power per tray for cmh. Cmh runs have generally been a bit more autopilot with less hassle. Our best yields are still LED but a bad led run cab easily get beaten by a good cmh run.
Second thought i agree with all of it but with reflector and yield per watt or tray caveat. Cmh are really good lights which outperform their paper spec.

Edit:Also we never had bugs on leds, last cmh run got messed up by god knows what black little spider beastie.

Love ya Posts Prawn but in my limited experience CMH out yield HPS W for W.

Mate, there are some good CMH lights out there with very nice spectra, but in terms of yields the best I've seen have been 14-15oz per 315W, which is about 1.2-1.3gpw. When I grew with HPS, I regularly pulled 1.3-1.4gpw with 1200W – but I grew vertically. I haven't come across anyone growing with vertical CMH bulbs (that's what I would do if I grew with them), so perhaps that's the difference. Since I stopped growing with SE HPS bulbs, DE HPS and DE CMH have come on to the market and are right up there in efficiency, but I believe DE HPS is still the most efficient in terms of umol/j (2.1) vs CHM (1.9-2.0).

I can't comment on yields between the two DE lamps as I've never grown with them. But if you're getting better results with CMH than HPS, then I can't argue with that - especially if you're doing everything the same.
