Samsung FB24B Build help

This the 500 watt Summy beast I built, I'm extremely happy with it. Designed for 2x4 tent and it will deliver. Very low profile at just 2" thick. Blows my Vero 27 gen3 COBs out of water by producing less heat using same wattage as well as way better light distribution and less shading. Also my humidity went up about 10% which is great as its really dry up here. And it is dead silent unlike my powered COBs.

I designed this unit with external drivers so they don't contribute to heat situation in the tent. Also maximum simplicity and it can be completely disassembled in half an hour

After trying Summy strips I honestly do not understand people who still invest in COBs (I'm owner of 4 COB fixtures). They have literally zero advantages over F series strips.

Very similar to what I'll be doing. You drive them at the full 2.5a? Can't wait to get my parts and start building.

You can really drive them at what you like, thats the whole point. Right now each driver set at 50% (wired potentiometer), so about half the current of 2.5A each strip. Actually my second driver has two single row (FB22B 5000k) and 1 double row (FB24B 3000k) so the current split equally between the 3 = 1.6 A per middle 3 strips while outside (4000k) gets 2.5 A each when not dimmed.

Tomatoes dont like too much light, they bleach quite easily

View attachment 4075985 I used ordinary cable conduit on the edge, the type with the clip on lid. Cable is 2 core, split into three wires each side with a large crimp connector. lotsa heat shrinking etc. inside the channel.

Busines end. Probably half an inch of each of these wires will be left by the time the LED strips are screwed on. The masking tape is to mask off the area that needs to get thermal paste and served as a guide for laying the strips to mark the holes.

Jesus those metal based COB fittings are heavy and hard to move. Finally, the strips are hanging above a few moms. Just dialed the voltage to minimum and the current about 25% of the range of the trimpot. So, no idea what power it is running now. Too hot to change the plug out now so I can use the killawatt. I just go by the old thumb thermometer which says they are running about 45C, the room is about 30C (80ish)which is spot on where I want it.

I should organize some resistors to balance and measure the current soon.

Need some input on the cooling aspect for the fb24b. I can get a hold of extruded aluminum for free but it's painted. Will this affect heat dissipation? I know the strips don't get crazy hot but rather run coolest it can be. Would sand the mounting surface of course. Figured this would have better surface area than c channel but just not sure of paint. received_10155547514391026.jpeg
