Lets start a movement....all marijuana smokers and growers. Lets make sure these people don't ruin all of our lives. The ONLY way to stop this is to NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. If they get $200,000 licenses from the City of Oakland, whose city council is about to ruin the lives of thousands of people, these superstores are going to flood the market with inexpensive, and very possibly harmful cannibis. Once the big boys get their hands on things they like to put shit with "ine" for suffixes. They like to get you addicted to substances like nicotine. Who the hell knows what they are going to be putting in their strains. The system as it is, is perfect. Now that it is being taxed it would only help the city to have corporations come in and sell mass quantities, so the tax revenue can go to....who the hell knows....the city? Doubtful. What is going to happen is these superstores are going to eventually grow into "TAX SHELTERS" and get grants and funds from the government, same as pharmacutical companies. So lets see, the big cultivation companies involved in tobacco and pharma....R.J. Reynolds, Phillp Morris, Bayer (who sent AIDS in Aspirin to Africa, a fact they admitted to). Are you all ready to let the old boy "man" kill all of us pot smokers, like they've been killing tobacco users. (natural tobacco isn't harmful, only the additives are)

I am not ready to see my small growing friends (and small I mean maybe a pound a month growers) losing their only current source of income because some brainless idiots in the Oakland city council want to ruin the livelyhoods of thousands of people, for a buck. Stand up and fight by not purchasing ANY marijuana grown by a company larger than 10 people. If you do YOU are contributing to crime in epic proportions. The city said that by starting these "licenses" of which only 4 are given out, that crime would go down. No. What is going to happen is the corporations are going to be allowed to grow 10000kg and you, who grows more than a pound is going to jail. There should be a federal mandate outlawing large scale marijuana cultivation over say 10 pounds of "high grade weed" OR 20 pounds of "low grade". That equates to about $50,000 a month. These companies are literally going to be growing enough to be making MILLIONS a month. And it's going to be legal for them....not for us.

Once again even our local governments are looking at the dollar bill not the welfare of their constituants. LETS ALL STOP THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you believe in small growers, with good strains, and a community (ALL of us smokers) that is more friendly than any other in the world, then make your mark here first and keep this thread alive. Thanks everyone. :joint:

By the way there is a federal mandate. Weed is federally illegal.
Sure it is. Only until the corporations are in control of it. Then the fed will legalize it. And since Obama just passed a bill that allows UNLIMITED campaign contributions (which are completely tax deductable by the way) to political candidates, legalization is only a few dollars away to the right person. Once the fed knows they can make money off the citizens who use it, and tax the hell outta the people who grow it, (not the small growers, because they wouldn't have a license and don't give campaign contributions) it will be legalized. The dollar talks. Not screaming about how f-d up it is. But the fact here is still that everyone can change this. Just don't buy it. If everyone instantly stopped shopping at Walmart, sure there would be a few thousand jobs lost, but small buisnesses would flourish and people would go back to work in small shops. Walmart and 99.9% of corporations know only one thing. Screw everyone for a dollar. Don't buy their stuff, and wow....they go out of business. So if you don't like them, don't shop there. I don't.

The only people who don't want it legal are those who currently profit from cannabis is some way or another. I know plenty of dealers who, if they weren't felons, would vote against legalization, even for medical. Keeping it illegal is nothing but a selfish notion.

I don't profit from cannabis and I'm against legalization, look at what a fine job big business and government
have done so far. Good luck with you corporate weed, hope it work as well as the housing market, job market, stock market,
shit take your pick. Just grow your own and the whole thing becomes a non-issue, and that's basically legal in Cali on a medical basis.
Just leave the whole thing the way it is.

The devil as always is in the details. In this case "legalization" if passed will be done in the wrong way for the wrong reasons. Do I think weed should be legal, HELL YES. First because like alcohol it is not going away, it is a relatively benign mind altering substance less dangerous than alcohol and way too many resources are wasted on enforcement efforts that are a joke anyway. Unfortunately the reason it may be formally legalized is the perverse idea that tax profits will help with the deficit. They may swing billions of dollars from the drug cartels to American white collar criminals but the tax benefits to the public are overstated.

The few corrupt financial winners will invest some of their profits to gradually take total control of the production, quality and distribution of cannabis. Most home growers that produce more than a very small quantity of "extra medicine" will quickly become highly taxed and/or illegal.

So a few corrupt white collar criminals will get rich, politicians will have yet another deep pocket for campaign contributions and the ability to grow and use cannabis will not be improved for the average citizen. Little tax benefit will occur and law enforcement dollars will get diverted to cracking down on home growers that compromise corporate profits. Arguing this perspective requires a naive perspective.

No matter how you look at it, someone is going to profit from cannabis one way or another.

Well, hello, if its legal, who says you have to smoke a certain kind, grown by uncle sam? If it's legal, you'ld still be able to grow you own, duh.

Nobody said we're going to include cannabis futures in 401K portfollios, you're being obtuse. Get real.

I agree 100% Fuck the arguments that it'll be dangerous for you, or they won't know what they're doing. Give me a fucking break. Any of you eat at McDonalds? OMG, your a corporate whore if you do.... lol

Pizza hut? Fuck no, they make way too many pizzas for any of them to be good.... I'm reading some stupid arguments here against mega growers.. The more legalization the better. I've been without weed now for over a fucking month while I patiently await my small 5 plant grow. I'm fed up being told "it's dry all over". I want weed everywhere.

The real fear is what is happening in cali.... outdoor weed is so rampant now, prices are down to $800 per Lb according to the latest issue of HT. Some of the ones against it stand to lose their black market income or at least have it severely reduced.... oh well..... quit telling me it's dry....
