Hi guys, I am new to the boards here, and I'd like to give a hearty hello to everyone and a merry 420 to ya too.
Anyway, I used to post on overgrow before it got busted under this same screen name, so if you remember me awesome!
I'm just sitting here smoking on some good bubble and I thought I'd go ahead and start posting again.
How safe is it to post these days? I'd like to do a grow log of this project for others to see but I don't want to get nabbed doing it. BTW questions in this post will be in bold (unless I forget).
Now, I have experience using ebb and flow in the past with white widow and am now going to consider helping a friend start up an aero system, SOG, perpetual harvest.
I have a lot of it worked out, but there are some nuances I need help with, so I appreciate it.
I will post the general specs and some questions and I'd like to know your general thoughts on optimizations.
The goal of this is to maximize quality and output using the resources available.
Budget is 3500-5000.
Flower Room:
Measures roughly 5' x 10' x 6'
Room is entirely insulated using 1" thick foam insulation, and in some places fiberglass insulation. Room is also coated in smooth 2mm mylar with no wrinkles.
Floor, walls and ceiling are concrete, and room is underneath all this, so pretty well insulated. Also, floor is wood, raised about 3 inches off the cold concrete floor, and painted white.
LIGHT:
2 x 1000 watt digital HPS with some type of cool flow hoods. Should I use cool tube or a more traditional box design? I'd like to put the ballasts outside the room, even if they are digital...but the cords may not reach. Any thoughts on extending them?
I have about 50 square feet
Both lights on a mover, but they will only be moving back and forth a few feet to help evenly spread light.
I may build the light mover instead of buying a light rail, Anyone know of some plans?
-CO2 flowering room
I plan on either buying a CAP or similar propane generator, or Does anyone have any thoughts on the water cooled generators like those on ebay?
Co2 will be kept under control using the CAP XGC-1e. Also a lot of other systems will be of course controlled by it as well. level will be 1500 ppm. I heard you can go higher but since I will be controlling temp at 75 degrees I believe above 1500 ppm would be of no extra use, correct?
Anyone know of a good way to build a co2 propane generator?
Aeroponics (Flowering room)
Following many good designs online, I will construct an aero system in the 5x10 foot space to do sog with between 40-60 plants.
These will be set up into 3 sets of 12-20 most likely and housed in a DIY aero system based off of the aeroflo 30 designs.
Two of these, side by side, would be 60. It is just an idea.
I used to do 12-15 large plants in 5 gallon e&f buckets but I have heard that many small plants via some tech such as SOG will yield faster and better correct?
Water:
All water will be obtained from a 6 stage emco pure osmosis filter with new filters.
Have to pick a PPM meter and a PH meter, does it matter which brand, or with calibration solution handy, will all be equal (practically) for use?
NUTES:
Nutes will likely consist of GH micro and bloom in 1:2 (or is it 2:1) ratio and maybe diamond nectar and/or kool bloom.
I am willing to consider organic alternatives if they
1) aren't prone to clogging sprayers
2) produce as well or better than GH
Vegetative/clone room: i was thinking of doing a single table with 60 spaces for clones that will go all the way from cutting to one month veg before being transferred. This will be an aero set up as well, but with less space between plants.
Light was going to consist of a 250 watt digital MH and possible some fluoros around the edges of the table. For co2 I was just going to use yeast or compost if anything, or I could redesign flowering room to block the light (since one is 24 hours on and the other 12/12) but let air pass between.
This would allow similar co2, temp etc in both rooms.
Also, can I run multiple lines into a water chiller from different reservoirs? Never owned a chiller.
Thanks guys!
Any reason to use a separate cloner and veg table?
My strains are going to be white russian and eithiter Skywalker or super silver haze,
any opinions?
Also, I would love to see your own similar journals and hear your thoughts on any of these issues and the ones I've forgotten.
Oh and the flowering room will be 10,000-12000 btu air conditioner plus a given amount of CFM vortex fan to ventilate the heat from the lights. This will all be timed with co2 production.
I wasn't going to cool the veg room because it will only contain a 250 watt MH digital,
