Scale for Cannabis

One of the best tests of spectrum is how does the plant respond to being bent away from the light. 4 hrs later it's running back to the light even after being broken. This happened much faster with led than under hps. This is a good way to keep your plant shorter, and increase top s. Do it on the taller tops to keep an even canopy also.

Or it could also mean you have happy healthy plants....

No matter what I've grown under whether it be cfls, hid, led, they were always headed back towards the light hours after.

Happy plants makes happy growers. Treat them good and they'll treat you better.

I disagree, that has nothing to do with it being a better spectrum of light. Better is a broad term when discussing cannabis. I grow for yield. Led lighting at this time, is a joke compared to hps. I would try lst instead of breaking the stalks. If you slowly bend it and lay the shoot sideways without breaking the cells it will cause the plant less stress and achieve same goal. Good luck

I'd say it's a PAR intensity. Plants always lean towards the most favorable lighting source.

This statement is not quite accurate, though there are many panels out there that are big pieces of junk....you should visit the LED subforum
Good hps growers can pull 3 pounds per thousand watt now a days...and the light setup is 450 bucks for the very nice kits. Unless you have a closet grow and are playing around.. Led is not efficient.

Just my opinion though. I'm stoked for anyone that does really well. I like to think I know a lot of growers, and none of them are using leds. And they have been growing a long time.. I know leds are knew, but my opinion is.. If there was a special secret about them, I think it would be out by now.

It really hasn't been until recently that LEDs have improved enough, but Apache Tech puts out a legitimate 1000W replacement..I think it uses 600W....but they are expensive. However the reduction in heat and electricity will pay for the light soon enough. You should check out @Greengenes707 thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/apache-at600-led-vs-1000w-hps-blue-dream-grow.813412/ with a side by side 1000W comparison.

I use LED's and HPS and like using both, they both have different features that are awesome and unique.

no matter the light source, plants will follow it. they do the same thing with the sun.

Hps pushes max lumens 3 feet. Led does not. So unless you are growing scrog only plants. You aren't going to pull the numbers . 600watt for a 1k comparable is nice.. But are any of those guys getting 3 pounds a light per that 600 led? If they aren't, they aren't comparable, just a marketing statement. It would be nice to lower the run cost... But at what cost? 10grand worth of light fixtures? To get a lesser yield each time? They might be good for some people, but not efficient in a medium+ size grow
