Just got hlg scorpion diablo. Put some cones in tent can't seem to to get passed first click on dimmer with out stressing plants. Can anybody help

what is your distance from light to plants? how about tent temperatures?

I use a cheap lux meter to get an idea of the intensity. 15k for early veg, 30k for veg and 60k+ for flower. I have triple V2 288 quantum lite bars x3 I got from Timber before they discontinued (plus my old triple 3590 bar from Tasty LED). You can approximate PAR by dividing your lux by 69 for white light (there are old threads on RIU about this).

i use a cheap lux meter and i agree, its a super useful tool to know instead of guessing what your output is, also worth every penny for addressing hot/cold spots

Wounding maybe shouldn't of put this big time light in a 4×4 tent
That light should be 36"+ away from the canopy, never closer than 24" at the end of flower. Farther away is better in veg. The plants can only use so much light.

Nah, you should be good. Just increase the distance from the canopy. 36" is common practice.

I got HLG's, and clones do great at 3 ft, and mid power. You can increase power as they adjust. Clones don't need much at first. They should not bow down or wilt over... if they do, raise the light or lower the power or both.

Yeah sounds like you grilled the young plants. LEDs seem dangerously bright

I think some manufacturer suggested 25% power for small plants
