My husband works for a rail company and the metal theft their is horrendous heavy rail scrap is worth a fortune, now the police regularly visit all the scrap yards looking for rail and cable scrap so none of the scrap yards dare take it for fear of being closed down and fined heavily. We have vans with fog horns round our area everyday shouting for scrap metal they are a pain in the ass but theirs money in scrap at the moment and they will take it whether you agree to it or not.

Call the cops. These guys might get more brazen and hurt someone next time.

It's only snitching if you're trying to get yourself out of trouble.

Cops can be useful sometimes.

Now they have fuel to feed there fire , most likely they are pissed off that you intervened and they may just be planning a return trip when you least expect it . Low lifes will do just about anything to get a step ahead and it sounds like you made them step back a few steps . Next time be wise and use the law to your advantage as people like this will do anything to get ahead and the next person who intervenes may not be so lucky . You ll feel like shit too if you see them in the news for beating up some innocent person over some scrap metal .. I do wish tetanus upon them if it makes you feel better lol .. Sorry to hear of this situation and it is good to hear that your ok and all went well but next time be aware that shit like this can go south in a heart beat and this is a time when LEO is more than welcome to visit and do as they are suppose to do and this is serve and protect even if it is scrap metal

LOL's, I once had someone try to steal my copper downspouts(all my gutters are copper)right off the house while I was sleeping. I've also had extension cords stolen off my Christmas displays.

So I finally got pissed enough to make these, we have so many illegal Mexicans around here I highly doubt they will sue me if stepped on.

I would totally hate to rat someone out BC I don't wish jail on anyone, and it might be too late now, but next time I would call the cops.

The thing is, you have to decide whether or not you would want to press charges in that type of situation. If yes, definitely call, but even if you don't plan to press charges and would just waste the cops time I'd do it to scare them anyways.

There are some shady people that have been using the woods around my house to make meth (shake and bake sudafed bullshit, its all over the place). We've been thinking about calling the cops BC a car on oor street was broken into, and I've had to chase off a peeping Tom. We recently found their stash of shake bottles and were thinking about calling it in. For one, its always a good idea to have the cops on your side if they were to ever get involved, plus it can deter any suspicion on you.

I totally hate (the dishonest) cops and wouldn't wish jail on anyone, but fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Well, I sent a text to my uncle last night letting him know what happened. I see him this morning and he tells me that he called the police last night and that they called him back this morning and told him the one that owns the truck has multiple citations for this very thing. He then proceeds to tell me the police want me to come down the station Friday and file a report. Fuck. :eyesmoke:

All thieves are the pimple that grows on the arse the ameba that digests cow dung at the bottom of the manure pit. They are not to be respected in any fashion, they are a drag on society as a whole and should be arrested, convicted and do time (all of it). They steal from the hard working and productive people of the world because they are total losers and their parents and grandparents probably wouldn't believe that the fruit of their loins are nothing more than a petty thief.

This, actually, is a very good thing. How much can you afford to lose to thieves each and every year? Are you willing to let them steal enough to affect whether or not you can send your kids to college? Upgrade your lifestyle? This is an opportunity to make the world a better place for you and other businesses in the area.

I work in the oil patch around lots of rig welders... youd be surprised at how often a welder goes to his truck to work at 5 or 6 in the moring outside his house and hes missing 2-300 feet of cable right off his truck that he pays 5$ a foot for. I hear of it once a week on the welder group and scrap yards pretty much cant do anything about it, completely untraceable. they should just stop buying it but they dont care. its insane at how often it happens here. there were guys driving onto leases in the fields and cutting the 5" thick power cables to run very very very large and strong oil pumps.. sometimes they were live. very dangerous but like 1000$ worth of copper in that one 8 foot length of 5" electrical cable! no idea what kind of power runs through that cable though. I feel for ya, its sad.

Obviously it's a problem everywhere but here in Ireland the problem has become so bad since the recession that there have been new laws introduced to try and combat it, I'm not sure how effective they will be though because there will always be unscrupulous dealers willing to turn a blind eye.

Sellers have to produce ID and sign a statement saying they are the rightful owner, the dealer has to keep precise records of the transaction and record the details of the vehicle and it will be illegal to sell fire damaged scrap.

Not exactly foolproof but church bells have been stolen, lead roofs from bandstands in the Botanical gardens and unbelievably manhole covers up and down the country.

In Detroit they weld the manhole covers.

We've had scrapers destroy perfectly good homes for $50 worth of wire. They find vacant/for sale properties and rip the wiring and copper tubing right out of the walls.

They can turn a $100,000 house into a pile of rubble in minutes.

When I lived in the d I got to watch a fire truck pull up to a recently abandoned house all the firefighters got out went into the house, I watched them ramsak every piece of metal out the house put it in fire truck and drive off. They even stopped right before they were gonna leave, got out the truck, went to the front door and ripped that off too. I wasn't sure what was goin on till I saw on the news, someone recorded them in the act and they lost their jobs.

I saw that one too. They deserve to be fired they were stealing. Stealing is something that I just can't abide, it drives me crazy that people will say don't snitch. Snitch? They aren't growing or doing something that will harm no one. Every time someone steals they harm the person that they stole from - period. It makes you wonder how many homes that the firemen stripped.

They deserved what they got.
They are paid with tax payers money and have to the right thing always, if they don't they give the idots in society the perfect excuse to do as they please.

Well talked to my uncle again today. I still have to stop by the police station tomorrow. Boo. He said after I file the report he's going to talk to the guy who owns the truck and tell him that if he gives us the money for the previous stolen heaters he won't press charges. Pretty fair deal I think. I also think that guy is broke as fuck.
