I've been growing a basic screen type garden for about a year. My question is whether to prune below the screen or not? Does pruning force the plant to send more energy to the "buds" on top? thanks

I believe that to be correct. Pruning may slow growth but growing good budz takes patience anyway.

chop everything that hasnt reached the screen by the 2nd - 3rd week of flower

i advise supercropping after removal of lower growth.
