Scrog help please :)

I've been doing some research on "scrog" & just want some confirmation. OK my babies are about 5" tall about 3weeks old. When should I start tucking them under the net? & my most important question, I know that by tucking the top that I'm encouraging her to grow horizontally, but will this create multiple tops per plant? I really need some help guys, thanks.

from what ive seen allot of people wait a little longer but you can start now i think the sooner the better. and to answer your question about multiple tops yes by bending the top down all the lower limbs will now go up and you will train them around to where you want in the net or scrog.... hope this helps good luck buddy scrogs are sick ;)

Ya. I think he is right on. I don't believe you actually get more "tops" but it is essentially the same. The buds get more direct light therefore they are basically all treated and act kinda like tops. Unless you top your plant I think you still end up with a single cola at the "top" now on the side of the plant, if you will, because of how you have trained it to grow. It basically makes the branches and buds that would generally be towards the bottom of the plant grow up instead of out since the main stock is horizontal. I don't speak from personal experience but have done a lot of research because I am planning on trying it my first grow back in almost 3 yrs. best of luck to you!

The scrog creates an even canopy allowing equal growth across the plant. Even the top cola, will grow along with all the(what were ) lower buds. Allowing more light to hit the plant as a whole, rather than the tops. Try to fill the screen your using 3/4 while in veg phase, then continue to fill after flipping the lights to flowering. By the time the stretch ends, it should have filled the screen

You will not regret scrogging. I like to leave a minimum of 7 to 8 inches between my tote and screen, to leave me room to remove leafs and adjust the stems. When you bend a stem over it disrupts the auxins that promote vertical growth, and allows that hormone to accumulate in the lower branches, sending them up. A well done scrog is a beautiful thing. Scrogging also allows you to grow plants that would normally be much taller, in an area with limited head room. This method is limited by the strains you're growing, as it isn't much beneficial to single stalked, shorter, indica plants. Where this method shines is with a hybrid strain, I personally like a strain medium tall with a close to equil split in, (sativa, indica), traits.
