Scrog Question

I'm planning a somewhat unique grow op, the dimensions are 9'x1'x3' so basically a 9' long strip 1' wide and 3' tall. I got a good deal on some 50w hps lights, going to put 1 per foot 9 total the length of the cabinet. Planning on a perpetual thing, keeping a mom, having a section for vegging and then the remaining space for flowering. On to the question.

In this space I was contimplating over a perpetual scrog or sog, and was leaning towards the scrog but had a few questions.

From what I've read your goal is to veg until your screen is about 3/4 full, then put it into flower. I'm wondering could you go with more clones as many as the 4 per sq. foot people use with sogs and speed the process of filling up the screen up a bit or is better to stick with less? Considering my space each scrog would probably be 1'x1.5' so how many plants would be most efficient?

Next I've heard of people not keeping a mom with their perpetual scrogs and just taking clones while in veg over and over. I was wondering if continuing to take clones off of clones off of clones will begin to diminish the genetics or potency at all?

Finally, I'm pretty much trying to make the most efficient use of the space I have. Like I said I've been leaning towards scrog but if anyone has any other opinions on if sog might be better I'd really appreciate it, if so maybe a couple details? Like how long to veg the clones (if at all with the height restrictions) and how many clones per sq. foot.

Thanks much for your help guys.

SCROG: since the clones are all genetically the same they should reach the net around the same time. you should start the flowering after you have to weave plants back under the net for the first time. until then, let em grow(shouldnt be any longer than 2 weeks in veg, not including the week or so it takes to root the clone). you cant use as many plants as SOG but you can still pack em in pretty good. all you need to do is make sure that the buds popping out of the net are in full light. clip any large fan leaves that are hiding under the dense layer(you'll know which branches arnt getting enough light and need to go). they wont get light, wont produce good buds and take energy away from the many colas your plant is producing up top. I've heard of people harvesting the main colas which will free up space and then letting lower branches flower another couple weeks or so(i say screw it and start a new crop).

Clones and mother plants: I would highly recommend keeping a couple of mother plants in a seperate room from your perpetual scrog room. there is not enough time in the SCROG veg cycle to reproduce clippings for the next batch and still be able to regrow to support heavy flowers. but i've heard of people taking clippings from clippings from clippings with little to no loss of integrity for the plant. over the course of many years... sure but for now its safer to keep a mother plant so you can make sure the clippings have proper time to root and stabilize before being put into the mix with the rest of em.
