I figured they are the things that keep popping up. I just push them down when I see them.
You're on the right track and lots of space yet to do a proper ScroG and double+ your yield if you're up to a little direction from a guy who's done a few.
Most people put a screen up to support their future colas and call it a ScroG but it's just screen supported colas so they don't fall over. Invariably they end up putting up a 2nd screen because they didn't allow for stretch and put the first one in way too low.
What you should be doing now is laying the growing tops along the top of the screen pointed in the direction of empty screen. Use short pieces of twist tie to loosely hold the grow tip to the mesh so the branch starts growing horizontally along the top. Don't weave the branches thru the screen or you trap it and may want to reposition a branch which you won't be able to do if it's woven in. Come harvest time you'll be able to take the 2 or 3 ties off the front and chop a whole branch off for trimming or hanging up to dry.
Laying the branch flat does the same as topping the branch. Side branches from it will start growing out at each node along the branch and they can be tied down too so they fill empty spaces and will end up with golf ball size colas on them. Don't want no popcorn bud so small branches and shoots under the screen should be snipped off once it's apparent that they will never grow big enough to be part of the canopy. They just drain energy from the tops and will just produce popcorn bud. Great for getting cuttings or pollinating if you have pollen for producing clones or seeds or both.
Once you have 75% of the screen covered it's time to flip to flower but keep tying the tops down until stretch is over and by then all the screen should be 100% covered or close to it. You can lay branch across branch while training too. If you reach the edge while still training just let it grow out 3 or 4 inches and turn it back in carefully to tie the tip at the edge headed back in. They are very flexible but prone to snapping if forced without working the stem between your thumb and fingers to soften it up and make it a bit mushy. Even if it cracks it'll still grow just fine as long as there's part of the stem for nutrients to get to the tops.
By the time flowering is over the tops should be no taller than about a foot above the screen and almost all of them will have been getting full light the whole time so they'll all be ripe except for the very bottom ones so if you just take all the very top ones and let it ripen for another 10 days or so there will be nothing but nicely matured buds in all your jars.
Don't do any mass defoliation as the plant needs all those leaves to produce more food to grow all the extra plant material compared to one standing up. Leaves that are under the canopy or totally shaded can be selectively pruned without penalty.
