Sea of Green auto or feminized

I was thinking about doing a sea of green.
I have a 4x4 ft grow tent
750w mh/hps light
I will be growing in soil (prob fox farm soil)
I was thinking about going 16 plants in 1 gallon smart pots in the 4x4 tent.
My questions is, so you think it would be better going with 16 autos from seed, or do you think I should do 16 feminized from seed?
If I did the 16 feminized, I was thinking about 4 weeks after seed germinated flip to flower.
Which do you think would be more beneficial for high quality bud?
I would like to hit at least 1oz per plant and get 1lb dry weigh at the end of harvest.
Recap——
Auto vs flower?
16 plants vs x number of plants?
1gal smart pots vs x Gal smart pots?

If there is any missing information that I’ve missed, let me know and I’ll help answer

I run SOG with 3 different strains taken from 20 different mothers. I’ve also grown a lot of autos and you’re looking at 10 weeks from seed. Problem with the autos is you’ll get a lot of height variations. Best practices would be to grow a few mothers out for 8 weeks and start cloning. Reason being, you can make your clones more or less all the same height and that’s what you want with a SOG. Feminized seeds you’d be better off flipping them right away. If you wait 4 weeks and then flip you’ll be dealing with height variations also. Plus you’ll be looking at 12 weeks. Also in a 4x4 you can actually fit 60-64 1 gallon pots. The only way you’ll be getting a pound from 16 plants in that area would be to let them veg for 2 months. So if you want to do a real efficient SOG get 2 or 3 tents and do it right. Mother tent, veg tent, flower tent. Perpetual harvest!

When you say flip right away after transplant, is that transplant the clones, wait 2 weeks to root, then wait 2 more weeks for veg? THEN goto flower?

That was for your feminized seedlings. You can grow those right from the beginning on a 12/12. You’ll end up with a plant that’s one main cola and about 2ft tall. How I do it with clones is take them, root them for 2 weeks under fluorescent then veg them under MH for 18-24 hours per day for 2 weeks and then into flower for 8 weeks. I do my cloning in 2 40 site Oxyclone cloners. But like I said, if you want a lb a run, and only run 16 plants you’ll have to veg for a few months to grow a plant that can give you 28grams a piece. SOG method is many smaller plants that usually get flipped with 2 or less weeks of veg time so you end up with a quicker harvest making the most out of your space. For instance let’s say you have 64 clones all in 1 gallon pots. They’ll stretch to about 12-18 inches when done. So let’s say you get 10 grams dry per plant. That’s 640 grams so just shy of 1.5lbs in 8-10 weeks

If I had to choose between your 2 options I would say fem seed.

But really Clones are definitely the best way to go. I run a SOG in a 4x4 flood tray under 1k hps. Usually there is about 40 plants flowering at a time.

I take clones and give them about 2 weeks of veg time usually. That's after they are rooted and put into pots. Then flower them when they are about 8 inches tall. They grow as mostly a single cola plant and typically end up about 20-24 inches tall at harvest.

I average about an oz per plant depending on strain.

So clones let you harvest faster with a smaller foot print.

What type of lights are you running? Yeah, I will be growing out a good mother plant soon. Maybe white widow or somethin.
Do they go into flower in 2 weeks, or 4. Weeks total?

The room can hold 4 squares of 60-64 clones. Each square is a 4x4 wooden box lined with plastic and every square has 1,000 watt HPS with dimable ballast. These are the steps: get some good genetics either Fem seeds or regular. If you go with regular that’s a different story because it involves a few more steps so let’s just say Fem seeds. Get 10-20 of them germinate them and plant seeds. Grow them under a Flourecent for 2 weeks then move under a MH fixture for 8 weeks. Of course you’ll have to transplant a few times. Finish them in at least a 3 gallon. Once they get 2 ft tall and 8 weeks start taking some clones. You’re going to see which ones produce stronger clones because they won’t all be the same. Save 2 or 3 moms, give or throw the others out. Set your 4x4 up, take 60 clones and root for 2 weeks and then veg for 2 weeks under MH. These are now 4 weeks old but will need to flower for 8 weeks at least. Move clones into your 4x4. Put them on a 12/12 schedule then 4 weeks into it take 60 more clones and root those for 2 weeks and then veg for 2 weeks. Now harvest the first 60 and move the other 60 into flower. You can harvest 600 grams like this every other month.

I run a 1k hps in a wide reflector. My New clones go into flower about once a month by the time I cut them, they root and then veg for a couple weeks.

With your 2 options, pick the fems and do either a week then 12/12 or just 12/12 from seed; they will finish before the autos would and will yield significantly more, too. (Saves power, as well!)
SOG you can run many strains and not worry much about training, pruning or large height differentials. Even with a couple weeks of veg, huge variations can arise between genetics.

Here are three different Pheno's of Big Buddha Cheese clones. 5 - #5, 8 - #2 and 11 - #3. Will be going into flower within the next few days.
How much trimming should I do prior to flipping.

Where should this be trimmed too, take of all three or ??

First SOG, I do defo on my vertical and most of my horizontal grows. Also, how much do I take off the underside of the plants at day 21 of flower?

Thanks for these perphvst tips! ;-) I've got a bunch of successful large plant grows under my belt, all using a single 5x5 tent from start to finish, recently adding a 4x4 for Mother~Clone~Veg and am now planning my 1st SOG for next grow to begin perpetuelly harvesting. I've one mother now, reveged from a previous grow, in a 5 gal pot, so she's using about 2 sq.ft. of the 16 available. Due to space and cost limitations, I need to stick with two tents, so my questions are, what is the smallest pot size that you would recommend for keeping mothers, any tips you may have for keeping mothers healthy when rootbound in smaller pots, and how long should one expect to keep a mother viable under those conditions before having to replace them from clones? Your answers will help me decide how many mothers of different strains that I can keep, and for how long, and still have enough space in the four by four for seed propagation, cloning, and 21-day vegging in batches of twenty-two 3.5" cell pots, then transplanting those into 1-gal pots to continually feed my five by five flowering tent from 3-week vegged clone batches every 60-75 days. If you see anything amiss in my perpetual plan, please advise
