You misread that, bro. I said some believe the decrease in quantity (yield) per plant is offset by an increase in potency.

Oh, my bad. either way the optimum potency is genetically predetermined.

Robert's right, it's not technically a sea of green it's a perpeual harvest system. It's definately the most efficient way to grow buds but there are some concepts that apply to a SOG system each will improve your yeild and over all efficiency and giving thhe appearance of a sea of green.
1.You want to work with a uniform crop so clones must be taken from mother plants every cycle, 2 weeks is standard. Usually short flowering, non branchy plants are used to get long colas and many plants packed in as much as is necessary.
2.A veg room is required big enough to handle the mother plants to make the clones that you will flower and hold the clones in various stages of development.
3.Every cycle you take clones, you transplant rooted clones to a preflowering or flowering area, and harvest a fraction of your crop.

Again, these are just guidenies do what works for you. You don't have to use short flowering strains or only one strain but your yeilds will be affected. You don't have to take clones or keep mother plants, technically you could stagger seed planting an d have a perpetual system. You don't have to grow 100s of plants, you could scrog one plant that would yield the same as a table of plants.

i use one general mix of soil and one fert, 10-15-10
and thats it.
you dont need boosters... the soil supports the plant for 3-4 weeks then you start feeding it, lil at first, then more and more as flowering progresses, then finally cut it off to str8 water for the last week or 2 so they dont burn.

ive found, that for me, the trick is to mixing and activating the soil.. then letting it sit as long as possible.
i use alot of dolemite... you will need it because towards the end of flower the soil is pretty heavy with salt buildup so it needs a strong buffer to keep the ph within acceptable levels.
