Sealing light leaks on an entrance door

Has anyone sealed an entrance door to their grow room from light leaks? How'd you pull it off?

I did it with foam tape, and a door bottom with rubber. Works like a charm.

Are you able to run extension cords out the room with those door seals?

The seals are soft and squishy, so if you can close the door with the extension cord... you can close the door with the seals on...

Careful though... you do not want to "bite" the cord...

Does a little light matter? I mean in the wild the stars and moon provide SOME light

Yes.. it matters... to some strains more than others..

But light leaks are one of the biggest contributors to hermies... and yes there are lots of hermies in Nature...

Good practices that help us keep the balls out of our grows include light-proofing...

If you can see your hand in front of you after 3 minutes in the grow, there is too much light...

The key is to not have one part of the plant in "night mode" and another part starting photosynthesis... that just stresses the shit out of them...

I have found that carpet pad attached with screws and a washer work nice at the bottom

i just cut a shirt up and screwed it on the edges lol.

GB beat me to it, weatherstripping, and a good door sweep.

you can cut a small triangular notch out of the bottom of the doorsweep to let the cord runthough, and its a great idea to strap the cord to the door on either side to keep it from bunching up when you open or close the door, and if you place the cord as close to the frame side of the door (not the jam side with the knob) as you can, it will barely move at all when you open and shut the door. this same tech works great for sealing a room for co2, ive done it in the past for a couple of closet setups,, the only mod i made was to use a tiny amount of greatstuff (minimal expanding foam sealant) to actually seal around where the cord went through the sweep on the bottom of the door
