Second Grow: Dance World

Welcome to my second grow log of the Dance World strain. You can find my first grow log, including my setup below.
https://www.rollitup.org/t/first-grow-dance-world.951468/

The temperatures are getting cooler, so it will be easier to control the environment of the grow room. I don't have ac in the grow room.

This time, I will do things a little differently. I will grow only one plant and lower the screen, to see what I can get from a more true SCROG grow. I am lowering the screen to about 2" above the top of the cloth pots and will center the bot under the light.

I may extend the veg stage, but not sure now. Last time it was about 3 months, which will bring me to middle December, which means about mid March for harvest, giving me a couple months to try an autoflower. But if I go longer, we are looking at about mid April or May for harvest, which may also be enough time for an autoflower.

So, first things. The tent has been sitting vacant for the summer and I just checked it for bugs (none, not even spiders), then ran a swiffer around everything and did a last shakeout of the catch pans.

I bought some 7" tall x 6" wide starter pots. Last time, I used keg cups and I think it restricted the roots in the initial stage. This larger pot may be an issue come transplant time, but that is part of this grow. I think it will be ok. I used the Happy Frog I got for the last grow (from the bag, the last soil was gardened), soaked it and put the seed in. It's in a dark box now getting ready to germinate.

Here we are six days since planting the seed.

I have a germination box which is just a little taller than the starter pot. Last night, I looked in, and the seed had germinated and was below the rim of the pot. This morning, I looked in and saw this. [problem uploading files...The top 1/4" is bent over like a U-turn.

My guess is that she grew too fast overnight, hit the lid of the germination box, and bent over. I quickly brought her out of there into the grow tent. I put her in there for about three hours of moderate darkness, then switched on the veg light, which is 3' above. If she recovers, I'll lower the veg light closer and closer as much as possible. The thought here is, slower introduction to light.

Here we are at 14 days since planting. I have two toothpicks supporting the stem. This happened on my first grow, and it is probably due to the strain. Last time, I had the light about 3 feet away, and this time, the light is about 3 inches above the top of the plant.

Still, she looks pretty happy and I am pleased with the current status. A thorough watering today and back into the light. The pot I'm using takes about five days to completely dry out and the last time I watered was Monday. In today's dryness test, the soil felt very dry in the top 1cm, and below that, it was cool but not damp, which means that it was not 100% dry.

In the past 24 hours, the temperature has been between 70-81 and the humidity 47-67.

Is there a problem with uploading files? I can't seem to upload jpegs. It gives me an error message "there was a problem uploading your file".

Good to see you have not given up, persistence pays off,
It's like learning to ride a bike, if you fall off get back on again , you will get the hang of it.
Just keep it simple and try not to get to to fancy. Just grow a nice healthy plant, don't worry about the nets or anything right now, just grow the plant ,

It's her 30-day birthday! Time to clip off the apical meristem.

Notice the toothpick to the right of the stem? It's really no longer needed. I have a fan lightly brushing the plant, which helps strengthen the stem and now it is holding itself up.

I'm logging in using Microsoft Edge, and my pics seem to be able to upload. It's not working with explorer 11.

Here we are at the start with the bent sprout:

How far we've come!

Here she is at the 14 day mark, and needs toothpicks for support:
