If it is sticking, you put a drop or two of water to soften the hole. You don't think it's possible that some could use help? Like maybe if I didn't do that it wouldn't pop? I had one this grow that was stuck and turning a dark color. As soon as I took off the hull it got better. It has slow growth at first then did well.
Idk. Not saying you're wrong just wondering WHY you might be right.
Also my thought is I put them in my grow medium and if they are not strong enough to pop and grow I don't want it.
Its fine, do it how you want but you will kill one eventually pulling hulls off.
I'm not sure about using rockwool but I wouldn't use paper towels to sprout either.
Cannabis growers and fifth grade science use paper towels.
Tap roots develop many very fine root hairs. These are easily broken and damage. That damage can lead to damping off. The bacteria that cause damping off lobe the same environment sprouting seeds do.
As it grows out of the medium it pulls the hull off.
Try putting on in without sprouting with the point end up. The tap makes a turn down as it opens. As it comes out the hull opens wider.
