Second Grow Questions

It has been over four years since my first grow and now I've decided that it is time for another one! I've been doing a lot of research about training your plants, nutrients, dwc, etc. I ordered white widow seeds from Nirvana Seed Bank and I plan to grow them in a 24x24x48 grow tent using deep water culture. I just have a lot questions to ask all those experience growers out there.

1.) Should I invest in a larger tent? or can I just use techniques such as lst, fimming, topping, etc to keep plants bushy and short.

2.) I'm going to be using a dimmable 600w MH and HPS for this grow. Is this okay for this grow tent? Oh I also have a "6 inline fan with a 4" carbon filter.

3.) If I lst my plants to decrease height, will this technique also create extra colas? or should I try to add high stress training such as, fimming and topping for those extra colas?

4.) How many times should I fim or top a plant?

5.) Can I put all three plants in one 18 gallon plastic tote? I know about how each plant's roots will be fighting each other for nutrients, but wouldn't a 18 gallon reservoir be enough to feed them all?

6.) Finally! How long should one's plant stay in vegetative state before roughly thinking about yielding 2-3oz per plant?

How many plants do you want to grow?

Your tent is 2' x 2' x 4'? thats a weird tent size. You're only going to get one plant in there. And it won't be able to get very big. If thats you're actual tent size and not a typo, you need a new tent.

what kind of research have you been doing if you have these questions?

What tent size do you recommend? I'm about to win this bid on this new tent on eBay. Its 48x24x60. You think that is good enough?

I plan to grow three, but it seems like it would bad choice for this tent size. I already have a bid on this new tent that's 48x24x60.

You cant do nothing but grow sack out that space. Im working with a 4•6•2. You can LST your plants with a 2month veg, without topping main stem. You can just lay her down and fim the side branches. However many nodes will double. So if you have 5 nodes thats 10 colas. 2 1/2 months flower gave me 5oz What I did was tie the main cola or stem down. Now the sides are shooting then after they get bigger Ill fim or top them.

I veg in a tent that size. However I flower in a 6x6 tent. And its not big enough sometimes. It depends what you want to do

Yea, I hear you. Few variables Cfl or HID. I use CFL 1000+ No heat issue. Sometimes ill open the tent enough for an upside down triangle. Bottom vent double reverse fan i can adjust either side. One fan for light air-flow. I believe because its winter that the humidity is low. Got my monitor on the way. Using smart pots is great because water leaks out and the more the pots dry they just draw the water back in. It also cause a good deal of humidity that at least it gets some. Right now i have about 600w of cfl. Some 6500k 6400k 5500k and 2700k...

4.) How many times should I fim or top a plant?

Wow! thanks for all this information and great pictures. For LST, I thought you could LST a plant early in veg? or so that's what I've been reading from different forums. Same goes for fimming and topping, but you said 2 1/2 months of veg before lsting. Why is that? or is it more personal preference? Btw I just ordered a 2'x2'x5' with 1 foot extension included. 2'x2' because of limited space. Could I possibly grow 2 plants in there?

i like to veg 8 weeks under t 5 light

No I started my training around 3weeks after sprout. And continue to pull down and prune during two months. The two months veg guarantees you excellent plant maturety. So for 5oz or more youre going to want to veg atleast two months before switching to 12/12. This 2nd grow is fabulous already. My strategies are very comforting and primising. CFL is the best undoor solution in my opinion. If your in an apartment that is.. Thus the more plants than you want to get into the HIDs... But yiu can start your LST in early maturity 2weeks or better. Some do it at so many days. Me i dont bother until the cotyldens begin to split implying plant beginning maturity...or four to five nodes up. Best at 4-5. What will happen is vigorous shoots and leaf growth making training more fun...

To those who say its to small, i fully disagree. I use the same tent and grow just fine. Ldst'ing and topping. You got it.
