5k is also a veg spectrum and 3.5k is approaching that, so as a primary veg light in a separate veg tent? I guess, even tho the hlg 65 is $99 and u could just get it in 4k, but as a general purpose light? Not really, u want a better light in 3k maybe 2.7

It doesn't put off a lot of heat - but we've been having a heat spike and my apartment is ancient and holds onto humidity like a MF. Whenever I water the humidity in the tent spikes to 85%, it's awful.

bro.. thats $12-1400 worth of light.. I hope theres "hardly no heat at all" for that price.. the "newer" clw are good lamps.. just overpriced as hell for what you get... and I kind of doubt they would outgrow the 3 600s but hey its your story
 
For the record any money that u dont spend now on ur lights u WILL end up spending in the future, and ull be respending every penny u spend on subpar lighting and trying to make it back on a subpar yield, do urself the favor and skip right to the end

Are you joking right now? An HPS light, plus ballast, plus hood, plus fans to cool- and you'd call that coming out ahead?

My feelings aren't hurt - takes more than some internet rando to do that. You just can't give advice without harping on what people are doing, apparently.

And you're going to need the "fans to cool" for your filter anyway.. so yes.. I would say you would definitely come out ahead over the POS light that you recommended.. please understand Im coming from a good place.. I wish someone would have told me all this before I bought my POS blurple LED...

And Im a fan of LED.. I really am.. but only really recommend them now if you can wire them yourself or have a good budget.. Cheap LED = door stop

Yea honestly this is how u should take his advice, it might sound hostile but realize its coming from someone who has tried the blurples and is pissed that they didnt just start at qbs, been there myself, learn from our mistakes

"I talked to my caretaker as well as three separate grow stores in my area, and all of them said they had seen decent results with Chinese lights. If you think about it, spending the scratch right now on a "cheap" light will get you through a grow or two and save you a TON on buying. This will free up much more savings for you to go all out on a COB setup later."

The blurple i used to use is just used for my cloner and breeding tent in the other room now, if u want to end up using it for a smaller project like this in the future i suppose its not the worst buy, but if ur looking at producing flower at all ur better off just spending up front, if u factor in ur increased yeild, not having to respend hundreds at anther time, lower elec bill and better quality, u really cant afford not to go big

That's my exact plan. When I was buying a tent, my first one got stolen off my porch and replaced by Amazon for free. Long story short - had a witness to the theft and found the guy who did it so now I have two tents. I'm going to use one as a veg and one as a flower tent.

Hah i had the same thing happen to a gun safe i bought off them, yea im currently running a 2x2 for cloning and breeding with my old mars, a 2x2 for veg with a HLG 65 in 3k, and a 4x4 for flowering with a HLG 600 in 3k, pretty close to a perpetual grow at this point
