So the scoop is that I took a break from soil growing for a bit to experiment with Undercurrent and ebb n flow systems. They were great fun, but time consuming. So I've made my way back to organics and soil. This time around, I'm trying something new. A water only soil mix. If this run goes well, I will consider running a subcool mix, though I fear that may be a bit advanced for me at the moment.

I actually have several tents, but for the purpose of this grow, I will be highlighting one.

Damnit, I hate the photos always turn sideways. Fucking iPhone always ruining shit.

All three seeds cracked, using the common paper towel technique.

Threw the little ones into Rockwool cubes that had been soaking in a water + root starter mix. I personally use GH RapidStarter, mostly because it's the cheapest and most effective.

I put them on next to a window for a few days. Then put them in a small neutral soil mix pot.

Then I put them in a humidity dome and put them under a 4 bulb T5. They will stay there for a few weeks or until they look ready for transplant.

In the picture below, the humidity dome is sitting on a homemade scrog screen, made of pvc and string. Fits inside my 2x2 tent perfectly.

So its been about 2 weeks since I put my seedlings into neutral soil mix and put them under a T5. The last 2 days under the T5 I decided to add a little nutes, about 250 ppm, thinking they would need a kick in the pants before they get transplanted into a fert soil mix. Big mistake. They did not take kindly to that.
That transplant itself was successful. They were put in 3 ten gallon bags, figured that would be more than enough root zone for these guys, I don't want them any bigger than 2-3 feet tall.
Below are pics of the plants after being transplanted a couple days ago. And already some good new growth! Yay for organics!

I'm so happy I moved to organics. I'm hardly doing any work or any worrying. And these babies are so happy.

This week I changed the light schedule, now they are seeing 16 hours light, 8 hours dark. Also this week, I added 5ml RootStarter and 2ml Calmag to my 4 gallon water solution. I like giving the plants a kick in the pants every once and a while, also I want to test how much these genetics can take...(not that I will likely use them in the future..but still)

As you can see from the third pic, I topped them. So I'm hoping in the next few days I will see split growth.. we shall see.

Ok, couple questions.
Why are the leaves so large? Is it genetics or am I lacking something in the grow? Light? Nutes? Air?

looks like you topped/FIM'ed them, that will cause the plant to put more energy into the leaves it already has so they can absorb light and create more energy (also have more in sustenance) for the new shoots coming out from the tops. Slightly genetics, but also a result of Topping/FIM'ing its all definitely a good thing. Now once the new shoots have their sets of leaves established and start branching out even more would be a good time to increase Nutes, they will be growing closer to the light so the light density will increase alongside it ;)

thanks for the feedback guys!

I'm thinking about not trimming until I absolutely have to. And yes, you are right, I topped the ladies, so once those have grown in, I will likely move into 12/12. Right now I'm at 14/10... so in the next day or two, I will move to 13/11. give that a few days and then move to 12/12. I've ALWAYS found that gradual light changes are better than hard shifts. I tend to get faster growing and bushier plants.

depending on your strain/s and their origins/adaptations, switching to 13/11 could trigger the beginning hormonal response to begin flowering. I think just a couple weeks at that setting would be best, as thats typically how long that amount of light is available during the natural transition.

Starting to trim the inner most fan leaves out in a week or so wont hurt anything. I start with the fan leaves that are fairly shaded (thus not creating a lot of energy for development and perhaps drawing from other places), as well as the lowest most inner branches (ideal for clones) that wont receive enough light or focus in energy/development from the plant and will again draw energy from other productive areas. I take a couple of each at a time (not too much at once) as they go into flower.

I stop pulling leaves and trimming off branches about 2-3 weeks into flower (strain dependent), by that time most of the undesired growth has been removed over time as more productive areas have been distinguished and developed. Other people do it differently... but this is the method I found works best for me over time.

Yeah ,those leaves just get monstrous when they haven't got enough light/air/nutes..

Anyway ,you must be doing something right because they look good.

ps check out my journal to see what topping will do for your plants, you will like the effect topping has i am pretty sure

Well crap. When gradually transitioning the light cycle, I got a bit over zealous and induced flower a bit sooner than I wanted. Frick.

I watered yesterday. 5 gallons tap water that I let sit over night. I ph balanced to 6.1 with 500 ppm additives. See pic below for specifics.

I just noticed during watering that the plants are no longer growing and buds are starting to appear. Well there goes the neighborhood!

I switched my baby filter for a fat boy. The room already smells better. I forgot about how bad it can get. My undercurrent room was completely sealed off, where here I'm just using a tent.

Enough yapping, on to the pics.... (Again, sorry for the sideways pics)

Yea man, good point, the leaves are monsters and I must be doing something right... I think I was getting paranoid because I'm not used to these strains. In the past I only grew a select few strains and was used to the way they looked, pretty consistently.

And yes.. that cindy looks great! the nodes are so packed... that will be a killer harvest!

Thanks man.Yours are flowering too soon you say? Don't worry too much .. height doesn't always equal weight indoors. you could still pull a respectable weight off those beauties.. that massive frickin leaf third in from the left is awsome looking..would love to just have it to fan myself in the hot weather lol.. keep it green ,i'll sub to this .
