It's not normal but just cuz it's twins shouldn't kill them in my opinion.

I've only had 1 do it and your right the stronger one I think strangled the other ones roots and I just clipped it.

Treat them with care and limited love and 1 of them will do good. I personally wouldn't chop 1 of them till it started to die on its own.
