Seed germination

My opinion is based on the Ag Universities research on the subject, doing a google search on damping off gives a wealth of information and the only time Ag Universities use a paper towel germination method is when conducting germination tests on a batch of seeds.

Having said that I'm sure they might use other methods but in production (which we are in) vs research it's direct to substrate.

Having said that use whatever method you wish to. They are your seeds.

Unless you have an autoclave in your home your tweezers are inoculated with the same flora. Mold spores require high heat and exposure to it to kill fungal spores. We actually sterilize our tools in surgery for a reason.

That being said feel free to sprout your seeds however you wish. I have zero criticism of it. They are your seeds. Do what you feel works best for you. I simply wanted to share the reasons why some of us do it differently.

If in the future if you suddenly experience damping off (which this is not) you may have some insight into why it stopped working. That's all no hating on other ways of doing things if it works for you do it! Best wishes on your grows.

I have done the paper towel method for ages but my next seeds I'm switching to rapid rooters because I'm not as steady handed as I once was...
