seed not sprouted

if i just planted a seed, and if it still hasn't sprouted, should i be keeping a light over the pot at all? can i just keep it in the dark?

are they warm?it can take up to 2 weeks but usally 3 days.how long has it been?peace cali - high

You could use just a normal light bulb until they sprout. Chill, things usually turn out okay. Did you germinate first, or are you germinating in soil?

i kinda "half-germinated". i kept checking up on the one seed i took from my bag of 10 that i put in the paper towel deal. the seed started to crack open, got impatient, and just buried that sucker a half-inch into the ground. don't know if that's good or bad. or neither. so i guess im germinating in both the paper towels and the soil. so i should keep a bulb on even before it sprouts?

also, would one 100w CFL be sufficient for at least a couple weeks for one plant? if i upped it to 4 plants, how many of those 100w CFL's would be good enough?

for 2-3 days. Also, this depends on how many plants you've got. Any longer than three days and you'd be better off leaving them by a south facing window. Metal Halide for veg, and you won't regret it.

Wow..just one seed? That's a 50/50 chance of you getting a female. Start off with atleast a few to give yourself better chances. I use the water bottle method myself and as soon as i see the lil tap roots I place the seeds..roots face down into the soil, not deep just lightly covered then i keep it in a warm dark place until it begins to sprout out of the dirt..then I put light on it. Where I am I can place them in my South facing window for most of the day and place them under a few cfl's at night. Good Luck

I found a single seed in a batch of northern lights the other day... I really wanted to save the seed but instead I ended up crushing it under my digital scales. Fucking wounded.

you get about 8,000 lumens from that cfl? if so.....superb. fluorescents are a veggers best friend. i would get at least one more for the 4 plants.

when u germinate the seeds do u put teh green sprout down or up after they cracked

you put this down, the roots are build by this sprout

i agree keep it warm sometimes it takes a while dont stress on it no way to rush plant growth with positive effects
