how many hours of light is recomended for week old seeds? i know you can run reg plants on 24/0 but wouldnt you want your seeds to have quite a bit of dark time because it mainly needs to take root??

i do 24/7 for the first week then switch to 18/6

i just have them sitting by the base of my 3 gallon pots so their getting plenty of light but i wondering if i should move them out of the hella small fiber pots their in

yeah,the temps might. seedlings are very sensitive, as for the rooting needing lights off to happen effectively part i think the best way to look at it is this.......when you take cutting from a plant you put them under 24/0 lighting to get them to root. a dark period is not needed imo, all it does is give your electric bill a break and the growth that does happen is more stretched than if you went 24/0, that is fine if your using hid and the plant has plenty of room but in a cfl grow it hurts alot more than it helps. stretching=very bad,especially with cfls. what kind of lighting are u using?

but their is a easy fix to the temp problem, run the lights 24/0. lol

yeah im using cfls so not much light heat lol. ive been sticking it out for my girls by staying out in my cold ass garage to give them more co2 and heat.

how far away are the cfls? whats your temps during lights on? make a growbox bro.......cfls do put out a decent amount of heat, its a myth they are very cool running,kind of, compared to hid they put out almost no heat but thats in comparison to hids. the temps are gonna make this grow very difficult for you. cant you just build a stealth growbox or something like i said b4?

all in due process. all im waiting on is money for mylar. i had a small ass box set up but needed more space. i think im going to make a like 2x2 box fr the new seeds

okay well some pictures would be nice to start off, this will allow everyone to see what your working with and gives us more information.
If you are growing with cfls like they said before it is a myth that they dont produce a nice amount of heat the amount they do is accually rediculous.
the temps will be a problem, at the lowest you want the area of your plants at mid to high 60's and thats even stressing it.
if you have the cfl's within 3-5 inches of your plants and in a nice grow box say 3x3x3 and take 1 of the fans away.
i have 25,000 lumens going in a 2x3 1/2x3 box set up i have with 1 fan and it runs on low usually bcuz my temps are too low.
