I buy a pack of 10 regular seeds that might last me 2 runs because I don’t have the facility to keep a mother going. By letting one run go to seed I can supply myself with enough seeds to last a while.
Maybe I’ve been out of the game too long but seems like back in the day it wasn’t unheard of.
I’ll have enough supply from my outdoor run to last through the winter.
Would it make more sense to you if I cross bred?

I got a male early in the year and had already cloned him. I killed it but planted the clone in a treeline on my buddies property where lots of feral ruderalis comes up every year. He used to kill it off but last year he let it go and pointed it out to some city guys trying to get them to do something about it. It grows on both his and city property. I didn't think they would notice one more. I harvested the pollen last week. I'm just gonna pollinate a few buds with a paint brush. A whole plant is a lot of seeds!

I was thinking of selectively polenating buds but I only have the one tent.
What is so strange about breeding?

Pull the male and grow it out somewhere else .
No need to give it special lighting ... it’s will throw nuts anyways.
Harvest the pods ... dry them out ... store and use.
Why DUST the whole plant ?
Pick a few branches / lower flowers ... dust those ... you will get plenty of seeds.
If you just leave in there ... pollen will be thrown everywhere and you will have to clean the shit out of it when you want to flower in there again.

Nothing is strange about breeding, putting a whole Male plant in a tent full of females is strange lol, I mean no offense to anyone who does do this, you definitely wont have to buy seed for awhile, it just seems like a waste of time to end up with only seed, dust a couple branches on a plant or two and you will still have a shit load of seed,

Just take your plant out of the tent. Cover it except the branch your gonna pollinate with some thin lightweight sheet of plastic. I keep my pollen in a jar. Dip a small paintbrush in and get some of the yellow stuff on it. Paint the bud you want to make seeds. Go easy man! Be careful when pollinating! You do not want to get that shit floating around in the air! After clean up put the plant back. The white hairs you pollinated should turn dark pretty quick.

Selective seeding/breeding I can see. I do it. But they both have to be kickass strains. You can't take two halfass strains and come up with super.

Well aware of that. Not my intended purpose. Trying to supply myself with regular seeds of a strain I like without having to spend money on a 10 pack every once in a while.
And was curious to see if anybody else did this. Back 20 years or so ago I was given 3 freezeland seeds. Did a run to seed and had seeds for 5 years or so of growing. Again back then I didn’t have to space or the drive to keep a mother and clone her. Plus in my opinion I’d much rather grow from seed.

10 seeds should yield plenty if you clone. Once you find a really good pheno i suggest flowering clones and monstercropping. Every seed is a shot in the dark.

I believe this as well, I think its based on a bit more than just an opinion.
I Cut the male down to a manageable size so not to miss any matured pollen sacs. Remove Branches as male pollen sacs appear but not open and place in glass of water in an isolated room with no air movement and plenty of light, until they open. Leave white paper under glass to collect and funnel into a bag or similar sealable container. Place in freezer. Use q-tips or similar to pick up pollen from container and rub q-tip on maturing bud sites low on the plant. Every bud site has seed sacs.
One male branch can pollinate about one female branch with his method if the male pollen sites are stacked heavy and you didn't waste any pollen. If you blasted a whole room with pollen you would need to wash it down and clean all of your indoor equipment before placing any females back into the room..
The amount of seeds you would get would be enormous. Probably more than you could use before they spoiled.

I wouldn't let the whole room go. Just put pollen on some of it and you'll have seeds from those spots.
