Seed storage

I am wondering if there are any guidelines for storing seeds as far as where/when. I received six super lemon haze seeds (fem) and two freebie seeds (Blimburn) (also fem) about two weeks ago in the mail and have had them in my dresser drawer to keep them cool/dry/dark. I'm just wondering if there's a line you cross where you should just freeze them because to long out in the open can ruin them. Also are there any specific techniques to freezing them?
Ps. They are still in the manufacturers packaging.

Best way to store is in the fridge. Put them in seed envelopes in a container and put uncooked rice in the container around the envelopes to absorb any moisture. Moisture is your worst enemy when storing seeds. Also i believe freezing may destroy the cell
membranes inside the seed as they contain a small amount of moisture which freezes. My 2c anyway ;)

I keep mine in a pill bottle in the freezer, had some I forgot about last year and went to germ a few and I got 8 out of 8 to germ no issues, and the national seed bank stores seeds in freezing temps so i figure it shouldnt be an issue. I also keep all my habanero and other regular seeds in the freezer too and never have issues.

General seed storage: 8- 15% seed moisture, temperature depends on how dry the seed is. The drier you get it, the colder you can store it. The colder you store it, the longer it will last.
Seeds come in two types: orthodox and recalcitrant. Recalcitrant seeds are mostly tropical. They won't survive freezing.
MJ is orthodox, ie it will survive freezing temperatures when sufficiently dried.
I am correct in thinking these seeds will pop in less than a year?
In that case, put em in a paper sleeve in your drawer.

I wouldn't freeze them! That could definitely cause some problems. I'd recommend storing them in a dark container in the fridge. That's probably the best method for long term storage in my opinion.

Thanks guys, I am definately going to be popping them in less than a year, probably a couple months from now. My main concern was if there was a period of time where if you don't pop them and they've been in a drawer, then they go bad. Say I wanted to pop them in four months then I could keep them out, but if I wanted to do it in five months I had better put them in the fridge. Something along those lines.
