Seedling Problem

G'day

Just planted 2 g13xhp seeds. doing seedling stage in aerogarden while i finish off previous grow and get space ready.

My problem is that 1 of the seedlings isn't really moving out of the sponge. I can see the first 2 leaves curled up, but it seems to be growing parallel to the top. It also looks like the end of the root is coming out of side of sponge.

My question is, would it be ok to open the sponge and re-adjust the seedlings position, so that the leaves are actually out of the sponge, should i leave it and hope that it fixes itself, or should i just throw it.

Hoping for a quick response, want to adjust before lights out (doing 12/12 from seed) which is in 2.5 hours.

Thanks

Leave it and make sure it gets plenty of light. Seeds have a way of righting itself so the roots grow down and the follage grows up. People playing with them almost always screws them up.

I fiddle with my Aerogarden seed grows all the time. Sometimes the leaves grow down and the roots grow up..the roots grow into the sponge etc. They all invariably get stretched trying to get to the light and need to be unsponged and stuck down deeper. Dont seem to hurt them a bit. As soon as they get some good roots I move them to 1 gallon hempy buckets.

Hey pps

So i had to readjust the seedling, and put it a few mm further into the sponge.
Unfotunately the round 1st leaves are yellowing, almost completely. The 1st sharp leaves are a dark green (darker than usual), and are drooping a bit and haven't really grown much.
I'm growing this round for seeds and was wondering if a seed that had a beggining like this would be suitable to breed, or would it pass damaged genetics or something?
Would you expect it to recover.
I'd just chuck and start over, but they were expensive seeds and i'd hate to lose 1 unnecessarily.

Thanks

Ok, so the seedling is recovering, still much smaller then its partner, but leaves are getting a nice green, and looking a little stronger.
I'd still like to know if this early shock would reduce its ability to pass on good genetics?

Cheers
