Seedling Problems

I would, but new members cannot send pm's :/ gonna have to wait a while. Im using a 600w HPS around 2-2.5 feet away from the seedlings. They're 24/0 for now, the timer's on its way and they'll be 18/6 in a week or so. Temps remain pretty constant at around 26-28C during the day and 23-25C at night, and humidity ranges from 40-50%. The grow space is about 2x3 feet, with 3 pc fans for intake, 2 pc circulation fans, and a fan connected to a carbon filthier for outtake. I've also covered the walls in regular white printer paper to make the most out of the light. Ill try take a picture and post it soon. Re your transplant, how do you know when the right time is? I'm quite new to growing, so i'm clueless. What do you suggest?

2 to 2.5 feet away .wow . I'm running my 400 w 9 inches from the tops ... As long as ur fan is pullin heat away from
That reflector you can go pretty close , I'll post a chart of how many lumens and what's ok N inches from ur plants for .. I wouldn't just throw them right into 9 inches but ease em into it but u could pronly go from 2 feet to 1 foot in 24 hours then so oh ... As for transplanting . When my plants got droppy leaves and I couldn't keep up with watering and when the plant has doubled the width of the side of the cup . At 24 inches with ur hps ur gettin like 7k lumens to the plants take that to 9inchs and Ull be shittin in high cotton , just adjust slow I would go 24 inch to 20 in 4 hours then 16 after another 4 , and so on , a lot of people might say just drop the light right on em but I would cause ur almost gonna be giving them 5 times the light

The problem with moving them closer to the light is heat. any closer and the temps get above 30C. Also, i've noticed spotting on a few leaves. Any idea what it could be?421206271_2293404403961404107.jpg 421311588_1719636219371445561.jpg

sorry for the HPS light in the photo, its pretty much the only light source in the room, so i couldn't take the photo without it on.

I need to get a inline fan to pull the heat away from the light ... My light is connected to 6inch inline fan the open end of the light pulls air from
The room threw the reflector and out side , I have 2 6 inch booster fans to push air into my
Room , I have my temp gauge hangin off
My
Light which is 4 inches over my plants and the temp never gets above 80 ... Ur plants are growing but there gonna be weak cause of the low light lumens being far away ...u could put a fan between the light and the plants to keep heat from building up and gettin hot .. But ur best bet is to get inline fan ... I'll show u my set up when I get home .. I think I gave 150 for the fan the duct work and the dryer cover to keep shit from comin inside the hose when the fan is off ... Is ur reflector got glass under the light more less sealing it off ... I've seen some nutes burn leaves .. I'm
Not to sharp on the whole nutr burn or sunburn so u might wanna post them pics and ask again ... Did u change the soil or same soil but just been adding water only ????

yep just been watering with ph adjusted to approx 6.5 whenever the pot feels light. theres no glass between the light and plant, just the reflector, and a fan to the right of it directing air towards the outtake. Ill look into an inline fan. Not sure about the leaf problems, I haven't changed the soil. I'll post the pics again in a new thread later.

Idk how to get hot air away from the open reflector I think u could hook a 6inch 450 Cfm inline fan , not the cheap ones from lowes that are to add to ur duct work but actually inline fans , and u could mount the intake hose close to the light and I possible would pull that hot air away from the light , idk how ur money is but u could just get a new reflector for like 120 that has a glass in it and then the fan , u can get the fan on Amazon for 89 bucks the hose is bout 14 bucks for 25 foot and then the reflector for 120 ish couple hundred bucks to me is worth it to have a good yield . Cause if u Dnt I tbink ur plants r gonna be weak and punie because of them not gettin the full power of the light as penetration needed ... Just tryin to be a straight shooter with ya and help u as I was helped when I got Into it this

They're pretty effective and a good way to save some cash if you have a few of them and some transformers lying around.

Re heat, im considering buying this reflector to get my plants closer to the light: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EQ6AHQ6/

and this inline fan to go with it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00JNFL0N4

Should this be enough to solve my heat issue? Also, still not sure about those leaves; if anyone has advice, please let me know.

My reflector is a sunspot basically made the same way but my bottom glass had cables on one side and clips on the other ... And yes I think that will solve ur problem .. I had a 220 led and a 50 led in a tent they said ohh they Dnt put off
Much heat , I had air pumpin in and a small fan pumpin out and still got 90 degree temps I put that fan in and that new 400 watt hid and still use the 200 and the 50 and my temps never get over 80 78 usually with room temp at 72 .. Basically with that glass under the light all the heat builds up in the reflector ur inline is connected right to the reflector which pulls the hot air out to the outside of the house or whatever , the hole on the other end of the reflector leave open so it pulls fresh air or air from the rent or grow area threw and out , so u got good air comin in and hot used air goin out , I can put my hand on the glas and not burn me ... U might consider some metal screen like on a window to cover that other hole to were u Dnt get bugs or anything if some sneak into the room . On my 2 6in blower fans I got screens over them so flys or bugs can get into the tent .. I send pics tonight of it all make more sense ...

sounds good then, ill look into buying it. bugs shouldn't be a problem tho. Do you think i can set up the reflector in-between the carbon filter and inline fan i have set up at the moment, or wont it decrease temps enough, as creating a new hole dedicated to intake for the light would?

Does the carbon filter have a hole on each end or not ... If it doesn't u could connect the filter on the open end of the reflector might have to get a 6in adapter for 6 bucks to connect to the reflector so ur air will pull threw the filter into the light then out the window or whatever ,. I Dnt have a carbon filter so but if it didn't lower ur temp u could get a y pipe connect the reflector and fan together put a y in put ur filter and that fan and pump it all outside , if u get 25 foot of that aluminum hose that should be plenty to do that , plus the y pipe which will cost 10 bucks or so ...

There's pics of my tent setup , the led bar is gonna be traded out for another 220 solarflare to have equal led on both sides ... But u can see the fan pulls air threw the light and bulb , the next pic u can see the open end of the reflector, that pulls the air in from the tent , then my small 6 in duct fans there like 25 a piece at hardware store they work better with no ductwork as far as moving air and feeling a breeze , actually put a hose on the fan and left hangin in the tent but it had no force so I took it off works better how I got them shown , then the last pic is just overall setup even threw a shop light in there for shits and giggles they seem to like , all the black container plants r 4 weeks and one day from the day I soaked the seeds in cup of water , the red cups are a week today , gave them a good watering Before bed lastnight so be lovely when I get home tonight had some 1/4 stenght nutes I mixed with 5 gal put that on there , oh and the lights r 10 inches from the big ones and 7 from the red cups . No problem with burn or anything ..

Yeah, I use to build my own computers and I have a ton of those fans laying around. Your brilliant to think of this idea.
