Seedling Question

I think my husband and I have read just about everything for growing.... for months and you guys on here have really helped us out by the way... THANKS! and so we got our seeds, rockwool and started growing four. We germinated them paper towel style then planted them in the rockwool. We left them in the dark till they sprouted. 1 never sprouted 2 sprouted one grew really strong at first but on approx day 4 withered the other is looking fine now and the last one doesnt look as good.

What would make a seedling wither? I didnt give them any nutients, after I put them in 24hr light it just got weak and withered. So now I basically have one that is looking good. How to ensure that that one doesnt spontaneously wither?

these plants need a lot of phosphorus when they start growing. so you really need to make sure that your rockwool stays damp and try and get some nutes to it right of the bat.

thanks! I figured it was the nutrients.... Logically when you plant it in soil it automatically gets nuts right? Alright I'm waiting on the nuts in the mail.... Will the others wilt if i dont get it in a few days?

if you're in a big town like ATL, I recommend going to the local hydro store and getting some nutes. They might not make it much longer.

be carefull with your nutes , i reckon your problem could be lights. too close.

I started my seedlings of with nothing but ph'd water and they done fine.

Make sure your nutes are really diluted so as not to over feed.

k cool thanks, kinda getting mixed messages about the nutrients... some say ya i need them some say no. I'm gonna take the middle road and just really dilute it.

when you first put them into their first containers, do NOT give them any fertz or nutes. they are a little shocked from the move and this may stress them too much, just water every 3-4 days. that's it fro about 2-3 weeks, then at 1/8 strength fertz 1x out of next 3 waterings, then 1/4 strength, etc..keep them on a 24/0 lighting, or at least a 18 on/ 6 off during this 'vegging' stage

Never give seedlings nutes. They have enough food supply stored in them to servive for
a while. Yoy may have gotten your lite to close, or let them dry out.

I'm using florescents and they arent too hot. My other two are doing fine now so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I'm using rockwool and flooding with the ebb and flow system I made (yay) 3 times a day. Yall think thats too much? I added now 1/3 stregnth nutes...( before I read yalls posts not to) and they look good. Yall really think I should stop?
