Seedlings are stretching!!

I have young seedlings that are almost 2 weeks old. As you can see in the attached pics, they are stretching and are falling over. I have 4, 2ft flouros on the back wall, facing the seedlings. I had 2, 2ft flouros above the seedlings, however after only 1 hour, they shit themselves and I'm waiting for a new fixture. I have the seedlings in 1 inch rockwool cubes and plan on transfering them to a DWC system. So placing them in soil to fix the stretching isn't possible. I think this is happening because of lack of light, but I'm unsure. Any suggestions??? PLease

These are severly stretched. If you keep them, you will likely have to use a support, such as a piece of wire to support them upright. You MUST get your light above them and within 1 inch of the top of the plant. I also had this trouble and the plants are doing well now, but they were not as severly stretched as this. The key is to get your light right on top of them, and support them upright somehow. Hope for the best!

You might wanna move atleast 1 of those lights from the wall and put it above the plants, thats if you don't already have 1 above. You can put them close.. very close.. about 1inch from the plant top. Also a fanthat can provide a gentle breeze isnt a bad idea either, it will help make the stems stronger.

Yes move lights above your plants. Use a fan to move the air. This will also help with those lanky stems. When you repot plant them deeper so that you bury part of that stem.

Id say just botch the whole thing and start over. Weak, lanky stem development like that is going to cause a big problem when the start trying to hold buds up. And yes everyone, Im back

I don't mean to interrupt your sweet nothings, shall we get back to the thread? I'm against starting over and am considering a soil transplant in order to bury the stems.

looks like there strecthing towards the light. id say put the floros an inch from your plant. and if the plant cant support itself tie it to a stake so it dosent waste energy trying to support itself.

What they all said, get the light right up to them, they won't have anywhere to stretch to. I don't know if burying the stems is a good idea? Damn, I've never seen anything stretched like that before, even if the light was farther away.

Well, I have the lights right on top of them now and I had to bury them in soil cups in order to save them. So the hydro grow will have to wait until I can take clones now....................damn it

with the floro tubes you can't be afraid of putting the lights right on your plants.. My seedlings were beginning to stretch before i put the lights very close

How tall did they get before subjecting them to light? I would get stretching, albeit not that severe, if I left them in the dark germinating for too long. You can save those seedlings but I would start over. Bust out your rockwool cubes, and cut those babies down, essentially making them clones. Place them in your new cubes, and now they are shorter, and need a little bit of time to build new roots.
