Seeds at the top of soil with no stem

So I was checking my plants and i see shells of the seed I planted at the top of the soil with the stem no where to be found so I’m wondering if this means the plants won’t grow or at least why then

So it popped out of the ground, opened up, lost its shell and all you can see is the open shell?

Sounds like a cat ran by and ate it lol

Or it hasn't come out the ground yet and it is still growing, pushing it's way out of the soil...?
