Skip the paper towels and sow directly into medium.
Definitely
Transplanting seeds that popped in towels is a motherfucker to do without damaging the tap root.
What I do is start my seed in a block of rockwool,(1/4" down/no more) smallest size you can find & then transplant into your medium (I do it with Hydroton in a RDWC, but it works with any medium.)
Once you soak the wool (in a bucket) squeeze to get rid of extra moisture & you'll never need to water again for a very long time.
No shock at all
Saturate the block with a mild grow solution (bullshit you can't/shouldn't feed young plants).
There fucking hungry
(if you have a ppm meter, shoot for around 400/500ppm & you'll have no problem).
Once you get 3 branches, you can bump it up to around 700 and I finish at around 1200 for the bloom in hydro.
Soil/coir only feed every 3rd watering, no more.
A seedling tray w/dome & a heat mat is needed & that's it, 3/4 days they'll pop
Foolproof
Good luck
