Where were you in 1970? If you were in the states, ya missed out! In europe, I MIGHT believe they had something going on but prohibition made it very difficult to bring quality into the states...The government already had their green fields in Mississippi by then...But all ganja was rolled into gay ass joints...Pinners.Y'all crack me up talking about what we smoked before you were even born.
In the 70's there was no brick weed, even Mexican was brought in in loose form.
I have smoked for over 35 years and some of what we got in the 70's would rival anything around now.
absolutely wrong..Strains from the 70's were NOT all that...I agree some strains have been bastardized and inbred into oblivion, but WILD strains of cannabis have very few that will produce over 10-% THC (average)...
Except that all of the KILOS I got from Mexico in the 70's were compressed bricks, even the good stuff.Y'all crack me up talking about what we smoked before you were even born.

I've stored seeds in a regular ziplock in a drawer for over five years. They all germ overnight when put in water.. I think the average seed is a bit hardier than people think! I bet the seeds from the 70's will germ if they're healthy. The shelf life of Marijuana seeds is not indefinite and everybody knows that the fresher they are the better the germination rate is. "If you need to store them place the seeds in a film canister (black one) with some rice. The rice will take up any moisture that is in with the seeds. The next thing to do is to place the seeds in the fridge this will keep them cool and dark. Change the rice every few months. You can expect to keep the seeds for 2 years."
Of course many seeds will remain viable longer than that, but the germination rate will drop the longer they are stored.

you know, that description sounds alot like my plant. It isn't dark green like my afghan, its lighter, and is definitely not pure sativa. (leaves are too fat)permalin
World of Seeds Landraces Columbian Gold is an interesting crossback 25/75 indica/sativa landrace from colombia., giving as a result a mixture of pure lines come from santamarta zone. The history dates tell us that this variety was used by Simon Bolivar in his trips around amazonas, in which he interchanges spices and medicinal plants with natives during his conquests. High, vigorous and branched, its smell is sweet and intense, stands out for its flavour and powerful psychedelic effects.
Good Columbian Gold seeds are not that easy to find. According to a linguistics book, "The gold in the name of the cannabis originally described the golden hue of the leaves on the plant, but later came to refer both to the high quality of the marijuana and to the especially high price it commanded.” In the sixties, Columbian Gold marijuana fuelled the North America, $40.00 an ounce, not easy to get your hands on. While using, you will enjoy the smooth smoke steam. The effect of Columbian Gold marijuana is strong psychedelic and last for about 3 hours. We also made it easy for you to grow this marijuana strain indoors. The cannabis seeds are resistance to mould and produce the plants with great big long rounded buds. Flowering time is 9-10 weeks. Usually, THC is 19.3%. But if you are an experienced cannabis grower, you may want to increase the THC percent. Many techniques such as this are used by traditional growers to shock or stress the plant during flowering by cutting through the xylem and phloem layers of the stalk. This supposedly would cut off the flow of nutrients to the plant, leaving the stalks and buds a blanched golden colour at harvest time. In the belief that the plants will respond to stress by producing more of the active (THC-containing) resins responsible for the plants' medicinal potency.

That would be music to my ears|eyes. I suggest you plant atleast 5 seeds, you know, that description sounds alot like my plant. It isn't dark green like my afghan, its lighter, and is definitely not pure sativa. (leaves are too fat)
By the way, it showed a female preflower today! who knows, I might have some old colombia gold!
I agree. In the 70s we got 1 kilo bricks that were considered "commercial". The better stuff ( for me at least) came in mexican flour sacks about 2 feet tall with some long ass colas. This was your name brands such as Oaxaacan and Guerreran.Except that all of the KILOS I got from Mexico in the 70's were compressed bricks, even the good stuff.
Peace -
