My personal opinion is seeds sometimes have too many phenotypes and out of 10 seeds there might only be 2 plants I really like that stand out. If you get the clones probably they are from a strong phenptype. Are you talking about getting clones from a dispinsory or friend?

Willie has a good point about the variety of phenos. Growing from clone will typically yield more due to the structure of the plant and is guaranteed to be female, so it takes up less space in that males are not mixed in. Plus, growing from seed requires a few extra transplants and a sound germination technique which can all present problems for a beginner. So i'd suggest starting from clone if you can.

Clones for sure. even better is to start a mother plants using feminized seeds and then take clones from her!

Try both and see what you like. I am glad I started out from seeds, but I also enjoy using clones.

Lets hold on for just a second. I wont say which to do, but ill give you some of my experience:

You are new, thats fine, we all were. Do you know how to grow cannabis in general? You know there are 3 stages and each stage has its own personality?

Being new, there is a very good chance that you wont yield crap, but you will learn. That being said, the less you spend, the less disapointment you will experience if you have any failures.

Bagseed is cheap and all over the place. As far as phenos go, thats why i love bagseed. You could end up with 15 different kinds of plants from the same bag. To me, thats a lot of fun.

Clones can be tricky until you learn about that stage of the plant (seedling/clone). Also if you are going with clones, you should know how to make clones yourself or else youll have to re up when you want another one.

I started with bagseed, both outdoors and indoor. My first 4 grows (spaced out over about 7 years) resulted in: Failure, Failure, Had potential, and failure. From then on: WHOOPIE!!! I now have the confidence to buy brand name seeds and clone them.

But be aware, there is a lot to growing. Its pretty simple, but thats why its so deceptive. You think you need to tinker, and mess with, and optimize....its not your hot rod. Nature grows plants with or without you. All you are doing is making a nice place for mother nature to crash for a while.

Growing Medium
Light
Air
Temperature
Humidity
Water
Nutrients

Give the plant what it wants from each of these factors and you are good to go. For some things, less is more, and for others too much is just enough.

There is a wealth of information here. Do a lot of reading prior to asking a question. More than likely, someone asked the question you are thinking of and it was already answered.

As a first grow I recommend clones if you can get them. I've been growing from seed since I started and the thing to love about clones is no boys. I'm on my first batch of clones now. Males are almost painful when you're starting out...

i have done both.

i started some seeds back in dec 09 and 1 hermied the other harvested 35g dry.

i am now growing 4 cheese clones and i must admit its alot quicker.
i would say try both and see how you like each one.
a good amount of research is the key to any noob myself included.
THE RESEARCH NEVER STOPS.

Seeds are good if you want to establish sum mothers and cut your own clones that way you know what your growing every crop. If you can get clones from someone you k now and trust I would do that before I went to the club and got them. thats my opinion.

I am on my first grow and I started from seed. In my situation I had purchased some sour diesel that had came into town and it had a seed in it, which the stuff came from Cali so I imagine any bud that was given pollen was given a hermie flower, so it was feminized. Ah, the beauty of Cali having so many great growers!

clones are easy, all the work has been done for you and if you're getting it from a reputible source then it's almost guaranteed to be a strong, healthy female.
now seeds on the other hand are a pain in the ass compaired to clones for all the obvious reasons. but you sure do get a real sense of pride when you can make seeds sprout in a papertowel and eventually grow into thick bamboo like stalks with dozens of your own potential clones. that's a challenge imo. but all in all if they're available then clones are the way to go.
