Seeking advices: Overcrowded room, 2 weeks into Flowering, what should I do?

The room is 10 x 4, 7 ft tall. I grow 9 plants (3 tangerine dream, 3 vanilla kush and 3 White Rhino x Dutch cheese) in 3 gal pots arranged 3x3 which covers roughly 4ft x 4ft. I cannot spread them more as I do not have enough light coverage.

I use a 1000 W hps into a Kooltube.

I am wondering what would be the best approach to counter minimize the effects of my overcrowded grow space.

Of course I could remove some plants, but I would like to avoid this.

I am thinking of removing the smaller lower branches that do not get much light, they kinda make the plants wider and they do not do as well. Is this a good idea?

Will I help the plant concentrate on the most exposed bud sites or will I simply loose a few popcorn buds which are not the greatest but adds up to be quite a bit of smoke in the end?

If I had known I would have taken more clones... now the small lower branches have flowered and showm many pistils so if I cut them they will be waste.

Any other ideas to help with my overcrowded space?

Yup u can cut those lower branches , nope not a waste you can re-veg thm if you want.
Okay, let's be clear though. Pruning the plant too much CAN cause many problems if not done correctly. I reccommend doing some research before going all willy nilly and just cutting shit off, been there done that. First, How far into flowering are you? It's bes to do most pruning during the earlier stages of flowering and veg stage. BE careful to not over-do it, like i said, over-pruning can cause serious stunting and damage to the plants. Observe your plants growth and plan exactly how you want to prune each specific plant. Take the lowest growth with the weakest growth and bigges tspace between budsites. Any popcorn buds should be removed early as they never really mature and end up being a waste of your plants energy. Do your pruning over a few days or a week for the best results. Good luck.

Removing the lower smaller branches is very smart actually. It allows better airflow. Also will focus the plant budding on the upper branches instead of making lower popcorn buds. I would def remove some bottom branches. Its a good start

Like my orinigal post says, I'm 2 weeks into flowering.

I do not think I will overdo it as I am not willing to take too much off. But it seems to that some branches will never yield anything decent so might as well take them off.

Worst plant I figure I will remove 4, and some I won't remove any... most will be just 2 or 3.

I will try to clone then so it is not a complete waste.

Is it true that if I clone a plant that started to flower and reveg it, that clone may flower as a male next time?

I have enough clones for myself from my vegging cuttings... So I will share these clones and would not want to give out some that will end up males.

BTW, thanks for the comments.

I will try to post some pics but HPS liighting and a cheap camera is not the best match!!!

Went and did a little lollipoping to remove some lower growth taking away from the main bud sites. Seen a lot of write-ups and videos and thought I should try it out. Enjoy!

This is from bud7144 you can check his grow journal , and see his final results.
And im pretty sure you wasnt going to over do it , and have done some research just was looking for a few opinions and thoughts from growers that have been in your shoes or know your situation.

Nope, this is BS - the clone will be a genetic replica of the plant it was taken from.
If you clone a female, you get a female. Its as simple as that.

I too have a very small (15x3) with a height of 5 feet. I do cut most of the lower branches but over a several week period so not to stress the plant. The strain is important in this decision process. My Indica's I trim almost all as my strain tends to give me just one large Kola. My Ak's I don't trim quite as much because they develop several Kola's. I grow 20 in this small space and have had great results (use 2 400 watt halogens). The problem is it is labor intensive as I turn the pots a quarter turn everyday to get even an consistent bud growth. I will follow up with better pics as lights are on and can't get a quality pic right now.
