I am starting my first grow in my new set-up. Never had the opportunity to go perpetual before but now I have 2 4x4 tents set up and Dr. Greenthumb OG Kush gear germinating at the moment. I also have 10 seedlings that are approx 2 weeks old and doing well, all from bag seeds.
Someone tell me if I have this concept of finding a good mother right, or if I have the right idea:
I will be growing out all my seeds, the OG is feminised, but the bag seedlings are not. I will sex them as soon as they are mature enough to do so. Then I will get rid of all the males.
Now I will have(presuming no hermies) all female plants in veg. I should grow them out enough to take clones from each healthy plant, and label them so I know which clones cames from which plant.
I will grow those clones out enough to flower, then based on their individual performance and expression of phenotypes, I will pick my mothers out from the original plant, grown from seed.
Or Could I speed up the process and take clones from the plants from seeds right before I flower them, then according to the ones I liked, pick one of the clones I took as a mother?
I know people mother clones, I guess what I am asking is which way is better, or Does it not really matter/make a difference. I would like to not have to wait ANOTHER month before I can flower, but I guess unless the bag seed suprises me I'll just flower that and grow my OG and Headband plants out big time in veg, giving me the option of taking many clones, possibly doing a legit SOG just my second time around. Hmmm, the possibilities...
Thanks for any advice on the subject
