I transplanted my dwc that had some root rot in to a coco pot, with a sprinkle of perlite in the mix, and an inch of perlite at the bottom of a smart pot. I wanted this to be automatic feeding like with the DWC, so I bought some of those seen everywhere glass globes, and put some nutrient solution in to it and put it upside down in the pot so it self feeds and waters. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for using the globes?

It seems too good to be true, I mean a way to make soil, or coco self feeding/watering, without the need of plugging anything in. If this does actually do what they are supposed to do, then I am shocked that I can't seem to find anything here on the forums that speak about it in high popularity.

Anyways, besides coco, when I transplant my seedlings from fox farm ocean forest, to bigger pots, is it ok to transfer them with the fox farm soil the roots are attached to in with coco in a bigger pot, or is it better to just have soil with soil, and never mix soil with coco? At first I wanted to do only dwc for my plants, but every time I germinate, I seem to have better luck with soil, as opposed to rock wool in a dwc, but then I decided that coco would be better to transplant them over to instead of soil because I have a lot of advanced nutrients ph perfect I need to use up, and since I am no longer using dwc I heard it is ok to use the advanced nutrient hydroponic stuff with coco, even though it does not say so on the back of the nutrient bottle.

So conclusion. I have one plant that is out of dwc and in a smart pot with perlite and coco, and is fed with a globe and advanced nutrients, that I was using for the dwc. And I have 10 potted party cup seedlings that are going in to their third set of leaves, they are in ocean forest, and a inch of perlite is at the bottom, and they have holes so they are well drained, the only nutrients I have given them are distilled water with revive, but now I only use distilled water because I realized that ocean forest should be nutrient filled enough until the third set of leaves are completely showing. Anyways, any help for a first time coco user, who has globes and advanced nutrients grow and bloom, ph perfect, revive, big bud, and flush and who started and currently has all seedlings in Ocean Forest, Thank You, Please select as many responses that you believe to be accurate to cast your votes.

Have you ever looked into true self watering pots like and Earthbox? I have a few and they are super easy to take care of and they hold like four or five gallons of water in their res. And you dont have to plug anything in . they work by wicking the water up from the bottom of the container. Check out www.earthbox.com

I watched video, about earth box. Is it just me, or is this the same thing as a 420 grow pot? Except bigger and rectangular?

I've grown in fox farm mixed with coco, no problem. Still do, except now there's about 10 other things mixed in too.

I think the bigger chunks of coco make a better soil additive, as opposed to the granular stuff. Those disks of coco that almost look like wood chips, roots grow right through them.
