Sorry I don't have a picture, but these are really cool and sturdy.

More interested in the reservoir at the bottom for good drainage and air exchange to the roots and soil down there. Plus, I dont have to take it to the bathtub to water, it just drains in the reservoir.

Got one 14" diameter x 11" tall for $10

ive been using them with coco to great result
i recommend watering from the bottom, not pouring the nutes in top

Ok you really need to see the inside, but since I dont have an empty pot, this will have to do.

The bottom of the pot forms a cross, with holes in it, and is recessed into this watering hole. pretty cool.

Spring is a great time at the local Walmart here. They carry worm castings, bat guano, Alaska fish emulsion fertilizer; grow and bloom; SuperThrive plus all kinds of perlite, sphagnum peat moss and organic soils.

I saw the self watering pots the other day as they were unloading the skids of garden center shtuff. Also ph up & down.

Walmart seems like they don't reorder the spring shtuff; once it's gone, it's gone. And believe me it goes fast.

i got some pots like those.
its has this fabric thing that goes into the water resevoirer. the fabric is under the soil and it draws the water up. i used these for 2 weeks when i was away and I came back and my 2 plants were amazing. I set the self watering pot inside a huge pot with a plastic bag, then filled the big pot with water to increase the increase the duration that it will pull the water up. Worked great!

I've used a system called "Auotpot" for a couple grows so far (on my 3rd---with seed bank seeds for first time) and it works FANTASTIC. It is very low maintenance, uses coco-coir or "Crop Circles" (coconut husks) which gives roots great oxygen and wicks the nute mixture easily from the bottom. I was able to leave the plants alone for vacation last year for 10 days in veg stage, I just had to account for growth with the lighting system. I use a Sunblaze T5 fixture with 4 24" Blue spectrum bulbs for veg stage and Red spectrum for flower. This set-up is perfect for the small stealth grow room I built, 24"WX5'LX8' H. yup basically the floor of the medium pot has 3 ... dips in it
the dips go into the res at the bottom
therefore the dips full of medium wick up the water.

if you water from the top you get salt buildup issues that poison the medium
if you water into the hole in the bottom your sorted

This thing sounds cool. The only thing that I can think would present an issue is when it comes time to fertilize. Does not seem like it allows for much room for error. If you happen to over nute, can you rinse the soil by pulling the top portion free?

yeah its not a pro hydro setup, its a cheapie
but it works.
mostly it vunerable to nute burn cause the salts dont get washed out. overnute is something you have to keep a tight control over.

This is really just a slight upgrade or change on a very old potting system. Nearly all my large pots use a system like this which is basically just one of those water catching plates to one connected to the actual pot. Only change I see is the cross shape, though I've seen ones close.
