Separating 2 plants in 1 pot during flowering...

I was given a 3 gal pot with 2 plants in it and I'm currently in day 5 of flowering. I didn't separate them when I got them 3 weeks ago because I was told it was too late and I didn't know better. After educating myself I am worried that 1 will continue to dominate the other and if there is a problem with one (nute deficiency, etc) I won't be able to correct it without harming the other. Is it too late to separate them? Will they recover in time? Or should I just transplant them into a 5 gal bucket?

transplant into a 5 gallon smart pot. I did the same thing and mine started in a 5 gallon vegged for 7 weeks and they are fine.

If they are both females I wouldn't try to separate them. One may dominate over the other just try to keep the canopy as even as possible by topping/bending the branches. Here is an example of 2 females growing in 1 pot and they turned out fine:

Awesome grow! And thanks, it gives me hope...I decided trying to separate them would totally do more harm than anything so I am just going to transplant to a 5gal cloth pot tomorrow. Hopefully the added 2gal of soil will help out.
