Serious Question.

I'm not new to growing, but I'm new to a few things I'm trying now after finding this forum.

That said, my question is a fairly serious one. I want to belong to this community. God knows growing alone and pretending to be a normal person has worn me down these past few years. So, please read my question and answer honestly and as if your future depended on the best possible advice.

I live in a state where we have just about zero tolerance (no medical, no nothing) for mj. I'm thinking about starting a grow journal on my latest grow, but I'm feeling reluctant/terrified to do so. Matter of fact... I work in... let's pretend I'm a an elected politician... so I'm more than a little concerned about incriminating myself, and, you know, losing my job, going to jail, etc. I know all the applicable laws in my state, but I have no idea how that relates to forums like this.

Could you please put my mind at ease, and/or tell me what to do to run a journal on here so that I won't be... you know... jeopardizing myself, my family, my career. What kind of privacy do we have on here? It'd be great to hear from a moderator or other experts residing in non-friendly states for advice or whether or not I should run a journal or continue to be a spectator here, only asking the occasional question. Thanks in advance, and Pax to you and yours.

Welcome Latin speaking dude! As a grower from a former non-pot-friendly state, I can honestly say we've had no problems with people getting busted because of grow journals here. I'm sure you are well aware that the popo is not too concerned about a few plants for personal use. Not saying they don't enjoy the low hanging fruit when it's at hand, but they are not going to waste limited resources to find out who you are. That being said, you need to do your own due diligence to keep your own anonymity. Turn off the EXIF data on your camera and phone. Don't post pix of yourself, your location, your job or any other info that can be gathered and kept in a file. The government stores every digital communication from emails, phone calls, "private" messages, instant messages, etc. Get Zone Alarm (the free one) and that will help reduce your exposure. Once you post a pic it might can be deleted but it can not be erased from the server, nor can your account be deleted. May peace and good be yours.

also you can increase your anonymity by using a proxy server or the Tor browser google either one for more info. but like potpimp said I've never heard anyone having problems from havin a journal here. and most of us are in/or were in your shoes, even in non MMJ states there are ways to promote or advocate for Legalization. Remember its suppose to be a government by the people for the people.

Hi PaxEtBonum,

.. answer honestly and as if your future depended on the best possible advice.
DON'T !!!

They could take your computer for something totally different ( political scandal !? :) ) and you're dead :)

Really a bad idea, but just my 2 cents.

i dont make grow journals and stuff like that either, although people say we live in a free country at any time any agency can come here and see ur posts and they can find out where your at, not saying they will...but they can. so, yea. that makes my mind up for me pretty much, you dont have to have a journal to be apart of this community, just a good atittude and a smile :) welcome!

If you're worried about it don't bother. I'm not too keen on the idea and with all that's happened with the NSA in the last month, it hasn't helped with the paranoia. I use this site as a resource and people are helpful if you ask them a question. I've never had anybody ignore me and most people seem to have dealt with the problems you've had if you read enough.

If I were you I would not risk my job and my family for a few weed plants. Can't you just buy the weed?

Well man, its all risk reward isn't it? For me, where I am, the laws are limited. But If I was say in Nevada where I HEAR they have zero tolerance, I wouldn't.

Can you keep your mouth shut? The weed you grow to yourself? Do you own your home? If you have no reason to feel you will be searched, if you are not a criminal for a living and you know your rights and how to keep cops outta the house. Go for it.
