Sexing during Veg

Ok so I am trying to figure out the best way to sex my babies while still tranplanting them before being rootbound, wasting the least amount of soil possible.

What I've done in the past is once I tranplant from dixies to my first pot (3 gallon is what I'm planning on) and after they get about a foot or so tall, I change the light cycle to 12/12 for 2 weeks, then back to 20/4 or 18/6 for veg. within a month or so I see signs of sex. The goal here is to see the sex before they get into the ten gallon pots

Something I'm interested in, is how early can I do this light deprivation?
Microsexing-- Is there any tricks or info on this out there? I can't find a good tutorial

One thing i read about-- light depriving a single branch to show sex. I would guess this single branch may stretch and do some odd growth but maybe this is the way to do it?

anyones experience is greatly appreciated! I like fem seeds cause they are easy but I like reg seeds because they're more basic and cheaper . Alot of people think you are better off with regular seeds for the best plants. And that small chance of a stud that I may wanna make my own seeds with some day.. MAYBE.. lol

I like to use a stress technique that induces flowering in any stage or lighting and then back off. It has many beneficial side effects and can cause stretch to happen which when managed correctly can be beneficial early on. I use homemade chitosan in EWC tea from crab meal. I understand shrimp meal works as well or possibly any crustacean meal.

Chitosan is a rather complex thing that causes many great benefits. The plant thinks it has an insect infestation. So many things happen. First off google chitosan for plant health or some such thing. It raises the immune system against many things similar to when you get a cold and your body raises the immune system... but imagine if at the same time you actually didn’t have a cold.

Doing this in early bloom causes thick stalks with heavier thicker flowers and massive resin. The resin increase is to make the plant inhospitable to insects and the increase flowering is because it is trying to breed to save the line from the infestation. Many other great things happen. Google it.

If you do too much then the plant will hermi so don’t do it after about week 4 of bloom to be safe or dilute it down.

In veg it will simply cause the plant to start flowering among other things because the plant is trying to outbreed the infestation. It will flower in 24 hour lighting. But obviously if you just kept dumping in some every week it would hermi.

I make it for practically nothing in a bucket the old school way when I make EWC tea. It is the main ingredient in Bud factor X which is so expensive that I figured out how to make it myself hence all the gibberish above.

Learning how to make EWC is crucial to being a savvy grower anyway and I have used this in both hydro and soil. A properly done balanced tea has all the nutrients needed and you can easily grow on it alone but takes some understanding and practice.

Best of luck!
