Sexing with Clones

I have some plants Im considering cloning for the purpose of sexing their parent plants to not waste time with males, and not risk hermies for the plants I've already invested a lot of time into. Heres my question, after I clone them and the roots take hold is it ok to put them right into a 12/12 light cycle, and if it is how soon will I see signs of sex???

Everything I have heard indicates yes, you can immediatley put them into flower, but this assumes your clones are good and healthy established clones, with solid root balls and at least 9-12inches of growth,

I will also be cloning within a couple of weeks so if I am wrong additional postings would be nice

I would give the clones about 2 weeks to take root as soon as they are strong and healthy (about 2weeks) put one clone of each plant in to 12/12. After they show their sex kill them off because they wont produce anything. Then kill off the corresponding males you find.
