SF Bay Area growing tips for outdoor.

Any bit of info would be appreciated on growing outdoors here in the SF Bay. It's pretty gloomy out, but we are technically getting 14 hours of sun a day. Is it okay to transplant my babies? Looking for some tips. All are welcome. I'm trying to experiment with a bunch of things this year.

What up man, I'm from the Bay also. I actually use to live in San jose, and then In Frisco as well. What a trip. Anyways, dude, you have my permission to private message me about anything growing related at any time. I've been growing outdoors and indoors in the Bay Area for the past 7 years. Good luck bro!

As for some tips yes it's ok to put outside. I woulda moved mine out side but I got delayed due to soil issues. But I plant on moving my babies out back in the next 2 weeks, so now if you choose would be fine (other than unexpected rain). Leme ask, what are the temps and humidity there? I remember that sea breeze gets pretty fuckin cold out there. Keep that in mind as your plants may go into shock if they arent a few weeks or so of maturity.

i'm from the area as well, just a lil south on the 280.
Biggest challenge is when you have dense nugs, the moist air is BRUTAL on them, for that reason i suggest using more sativa hybrids that don't get quite as chunky as some of the indicas, i'd look for some mold resistant strains.
For me, the blue dream was always a good one for that.
The blue dream does well on all fronts, a good solid choice for that area, in my humble opinion.

Sounds good. I picked up a couple blue dream clones. I'm in Redwood City so I don't think moist air will be a huge problem. I had trouble last year with the drying and curing process though.

yea, redwood city is a good area to grow in, more consistent.
Blue dreams are a good choice for you.
You'll be happy, just give them lots of soil

I agree. Blue dream is literally a perfect plant for a beginner out door grower. That strain is very forgiving and has high resistances to outdoor issues such as heat and mold. and Ah! redwood city! I was literally just there 3 days ago lol! I ironically went to Newark to get my FoxFarm soil. 300 gallons. You know where im talking about? By Grocery outlet? Right off Newark Blvd. Apparently that Mexican meat market is now a hydro shop lol!!! Super cheap ass prices tho bro! Check it out when you get a chance to drive up that way. Kinda sucks because when I was living in Newark I use to have to drive to Hayward to get all my growing stuff, then when I move suddenly theres a hydro shop smack dap where I use to live lmao!

I live in South San Francisco right next to colma. I couldn't put my plants outside of i wanted to, it's been quite foggy and cloudy lately. So I will just keep em inside for now. I picked up double dream and dream queen, it's good to know there are a few of us close to each other!

I live in berkley and my plants have been doing okay so far, i planted them too early so they are confused..... trying to flower and reveg haha

South Bay here and Blue Dream is a great strain to start with. But watch out, they can grow real big if you give them root room (big pots or in the ground). You may have to tie them down if you're going for a bit of stealth.

Last year I wasn't so lucky and only one of my plants got to 7', hoping to get a bigger one this year that I'll have to tie down lol.

Just got a 1/2 yd^3 of soil yesterday, but wasn't FF. Think that'd be enough for a couple plants?

I've driven past that grocery outlet before but have never stopped. I might have to check out that Hydro Store tho, know what it's called?

Per plant what would you suggest? I just picked up about 100 gallons and it seems like a lot.

I've never gone so big so I don't know what works best.

depending on when you plant, i'd go at least 25 gals per plant.
bigger is always better outside, the bluedream is a big strain too, especially outside.
but they'll be fine in something as small as a 12 gal, but you'll need to water a lot, and the yield will be less.

Oh ok. I'll probably go around 50 gallons per plant then. I'm putting them straight into the ground. just going to dig a shallow 4'X4' square to dump the soil into n mound up the soil from there.

Hoping the roots will be able to penetrate the shitty soil underneath if they need it.

ahh, if in the ground you won't need that much soil then.
But that would be a good idea though.
a 4x4 is perfect, you'll have some fatties.

I grew a NextGeneration Timewarp from seed my first grow. Bred for outdoor conditions.

It's been kinda cold for this time of year at that.

Right now its 62 with 72% humidity. Too humid for plants?
